While I've been here for 18 months, I still regard myself as a noob. To turn your health around, log all your food honestly, accurately, and promptly. Don't trust yourself to remember it later. Don't make excuses for neglect. Own your life, your actions, your eats, your health. I've turned my health around in less than 12 months on this site. I began January 25, 2016, and at my December 2016 medical check-up my doctor told me to quit taking the blood pressure meds and to keep doing whatever I was doing.
People here have turned around diabetes and high blood pressure. That's the easy stuff. The incredible 'health turn around' testimonials I've seen here are quite amazing.
Weight loss is all and only about calorie counting. Cardio exercise such as steady speed treadmill work, or walking, are excellent for improving your cardiovascular fitness. Strength training exercises are excellent for preserving and growing your muscles. Use this community. The nutrition and fitness wisdom in this crowd is the most valuable resource you have.3 -
Thanks guys. This is the first time I've joined a community like this. I've been working on my health for nine months. I've gone from 275 to 250 and fluctuating. I worked in construction all my life and then I received a promotion into the office. Shortly after I felt my health start to decrease. Hours on top of hours every day sitting at a desk versus climbing reaching and speed work. I've lost my balance I've lost some hand coordination and felt like a slug. I hired a personal trainer who worked with me for the first four months and now I've taken the full responsibility of my health which is something I didn't worry about before. Two or three times a week someone brings in donuts cake pop chips snacks and I got caught up in a quick snack or a ice cream sandwich two or three donuts coffee and then right back to my desk.
Now with MFP I see the intake, balance carbs, calories and have reduced fats. I can't believe how much fat vs carbs and protein are in everyday foods. Almond milk! But that's not a bad fat.
I will continue to share and motivate. We as a team will live past 1002 -
Welcome!! Good luck to you!0

I see your beautiful baby in your picture, my five kids are all the motivation in the world. Good luck.0 -
That office food is soooo maddening...junkie food is interesting in that most of it is not my fav but when I really just must have what I love, I consciously include it into my day as long as I don't do it constantly or dishonestly.0
