What time of day works best for you? I have been getting up really early for three weeks now and it is making a difference.

I prefer morning exercise. When I was doing it after work it felt like a chore. Now, since I do it in the mornings before I go to work it makes me feel energized and I know I am finished for the day!

I try to go twice a day. I do some light lifting in the morning for about 10 minutes, followed by a half hour of stairs, treadmill or elliptical.

In the afternoon, it's either a nice long walk or a trip to the gym again for some hardcore cardio. Trying to work a trip to the pool in there somewhere though.

I've read that working out in the morning is best for you, I tend to workout in the mornings, cause it helps jump start my day. Still anytime you can get it in is good as long as you're moving as far as I am concerned.

    Hey BillyPaul!

I used to get up and work in the mornings and work out before school for a couple years, but now that I have a job that requires me to get up earlier I value sleep to much. I wasn't able to fall into a routine but have forced myself to now and have been working out after work because it helps me relax and forget the day I had and after I get done working out and am all showered I feel so much better and am not generally thinking about my day.
  • I workout in the evenings because of a busy lifestyle. Ido try to get a walk or two in during the day but it is really hard for me to get up an extra hour earlier to work out? Do you think it makes a difference??

I wish I could get motivated to go in the morning. Typically it's mid afternoon or evening for me.

    I do both.
A quick 20 -30 minute work out in the morning to get me going, and then either a 4-5 mile run after work or 1-2 hours at the gym.
I don't like getting up to early that's why the shorter work outs in the morning. Just enough to get me going.

The time for your body is Morning before breakfast and then have a protein based meal.

I can't do that so I walk after I get home from work and exercise just before bed. I usually do not have anything to eat between lunch and the walk. The current theory is that if you exercise after eating that is what you are burning and that food should be processing not burning and you want to burn fat. I do make sure my afterwork out meal is protein based.

Best of Luck, you just have to find what works best for you.

Personally, it's SO much easier for me to work out on my lunch break at work. No kids underfoot, no husband bugging me about "where's this?" and "where's that?", & I work in a building that offers fitness classes for $2! No excuses NOT to go (although I tried to find an excuse not to do my kickboxing today, couldn't do it). LOL!

If you're getting your butt off the couch and doing something --- who cares what time it is!

I do a combination... morning class at the gym 3x a week, evening 5x a week -- yes, some days I go twice.
BUT I do nothing on Sunday -- that's my slacker day :)

Doesn't matter the time of day. Its a preference thing and a time allowance thing.

I like to get up early and do a 30-45 minute workout. Then I run in the evenings after work.
Morning workouts work great for me because it gives me energy and I feel great all day.
I also love to run after work because its such a great de-stresser and I can unwind and stretch my legs after sitting all day at the office. Its my time to be alone and enjoy nature.

Any time I can fit it in. The time of the day doesn't matter. Consistency matters.

I'm glad I saw this topic because I've been wondering the same myself. I'm finding that as they day goes on, things get to hectic and I miss out getting some exercise. (Unless I do Wii Just Dance with my kids) SO I'm thinking of forcing myself out of bed earlier to get it done with before the day gets away from me. I've gotten to the point where I feel guilty if I don't get some form of exercise in!

But I'm wonder if the time of day makes any difference to how well the calories are burnt? For example, if you work out in the morning does that help with metabolism and help your body burn more calories during the day. Versus the evening when you're just going to go to bed afterwards?
