Hello I know there have been many thread on the HRMs but I have a particular question that I have not been able to find even on line. (Unless I have not been looking in the right place...)

I have noticed that there are Polar FT7 that have a women on the outside of the package. I am assuming these particular ones are for women. I have seen the ones that have the male on the outside of the package and assum those are for men.

However how about a Polar FT7M that comes in a black box??? Im a little concern if I purchase this watch its for males or something and it is useless for me.

Sorry a little confused hopefully someone can kinda explain this to me. Thank you in advance!!

Yes, the M indicates its a man's fit. And every box I've ever seen is black no matter if it's men's or women's.

That's the same one I have. I ordered not realizing the "M" stood for male. However, it looks great, works perfectly, and you will be fine! The chest strap is adjustable, the watch can be as tight, or loose, as you want it to be. I love it! Just plug in all of your info and it will ask if you are male or female, so no worries.

I'm not sure, but unless I am mistaken, the mens and women's just have to do with the size of the watch. I have the polar F4 and it's like an ice blue color and is a slimmer design, better for women. But you enter all of your personal information into it anyway, so in that regard I can't see how a men's watch would be useless to a woman. It would just be a little bulkier.

    Here's the review I found on Amazon.com:
I am really pleased with this HR monitor watch. Being a woman, I wanted something sturdy yet not so big it dominated my arm. This fits the bill - very adjustable size wize (both the watch and the chest strap). I am average height, but carry most of my weight in my stomach. The chest strap fits very comfortably to me, and the new feature of being able to simply wet the cloth contacts is great (I was used to the old school hard plastic contacts).

According to the product information, you can actually wash the chest strap in the washer - haven't tried it yet.

Fairly easy to use once you get used to which button controls which feature. Advice - when you are setting the watch up for the first time, have the manual in front of you. I accidentally deleted my settings the first few times.

Using the watch while jogging and walking is very easy - the screen is much easier to read than other products I have tried. I was most interested in tracking heart rate, calories burned, and some basics of how I was working out in the fat burning and fitness zones. This watch does a great job with that - afetr you complete a workout it produces a simple summary of total cals burned, how many minutes you spent in far burn vs fitness, and your average heart rate.

I am sure hard core runners want something more than tracks mileage, but I tried a watch like that and found it too cumbersome. Since I am merely using this for fitness, it works perfectly.

However, this was on the Polar FT7F watch. I'm going to say the FT7M is for men and the FT7F is for women. :)

I have a Polar cycling HRM so it's not exactly the same, but it's my understanding that you input your sex as part of the setup process, so it shouldn't matter what the picture on the box shows. I don't think Polar makes any monitors that are gender-specific.
