hey
what are some of the "healthiest" icecreams availible in australia in terms of sugar/fat content?? NO ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS tho. i hear some fat free icecreams have more sugar, just wondering what people have tried so i dont have to go examine the whole icecream counter!

The skinny cow ones are okay. Personally though, I prefer saving ice-cream for a special treat and getting a small sampler of Ben and Jerry's from the 7-Eleven near my work once every couple of weeks. Just can't beat that flavour!!

Weis's mango cream bars ..... Nothing artificial, real mango, real dairy and 112 cals per bar for the ones you buy at the corner shop. I had a smaller size one on a Qantas flight last week, these might be the ones you get in the supermarket.
    Highly recommended!

I think Peter's had a no added sugar vanilla ice cream which was really nice. I can't think of the brand but I remember there was one that had cookies n cream, mint etc Just go to woolworths and take a few mins to look through the different ice creams and their nutritional value. Sorry I can't be more help I haven't been back home for a while! Oh and weight watchers have little ice cream cups for about 110cal :)

Really, if you want to avoid artificial stuff, I think you are better to look for a "real" icecream and just eat it in moderate portions.
I had a great Maggie Beer icecream a while ago that was made of cream and eggs and sugar and vanilla. It was so delicious, I'd rather eat just a little bit of this and enjoy it than a great big bowl of skim milk and gelatin and thickeners and artificial sweeteners.
I think you're right, it might take a bit of time in the icecream isle to find something that suits you.... please let us know what you find!

Homemade is the best! You know what's in it... If you're interested I'll post the recipe. It's eggs evaporated milk little sugar, vanilla then whichever flavor you wish, my kids like the plain vanilla and sometimes we crumble bits of dark chocolate through

I like to have a little bit of peter's light vanilla with fresh strawberries sliced on top with a small amount of chocolate syrup. It's a pretty tasty treat to have every now & then, but I probably have it more then I should

How many calorie per 100g r in that one? Is the sugar content high due to it being light?? Sounds yummy! I never know how often I should have treats like icecream -how often do u eat it and how much do u have?
