Ketogenic athletes

Can anyone help me with the ambiguous details of the ketogenic diet and active lifestyle? If I go over on carbs, but lose 500 calories through my daily workouts does that still kick me out of ketosis ? Or if I strenuously workout daily, does that afford me some wiggle room to indulge in some more carbs ? I lead an extremely active lifestyle and easily burn 800-1000 calories a day. I'm just trying to decipher if keto will be beneficial to me more so than any other typical well balanced diet with moderation ?

Whether it is beneficial for you over a balanced diet is going to depend entirely on how you feel on it and why you think you should eat in a ketogenic manner. I absolutely could not function in an athletic capacity on low carb or ketosis, you may be different. You may find you have to pay very close attention to how you are fueling around training with a keto diet. The carb difference between you and a non-athlete would be that your activity should give you higher carbs anyway since carbs are usually a ratio of total calories rather than a set number.
