So my boyfriend and I just started walking and watching calories about 6 days ago. We didn't start small either. It's 5-8 miles a day and several (10-15) flights of stairs daily! I've stretched before the walk, I've mentally prepped my mind that it will hurt.....but its becoming harder. Staying motivated is not the problem... its the pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or remedies for the intensity at which my legs burn, besides slowing down. I want this weight to come off and this is my beginning. I'm surely paying for my chips and snacks and sweets! Whatever you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Drink lots of water. Being sore is part of the process. It will go away, just stick with it. Good luck on your journey!

Annihilating your legs isn't going to make weight come off faster. In fact if you over train them, you're likely to go UP in weight due to retaining water for muscle repair.
You're not conditioned enough yet to handle the amount you're doing, so that's why the pain. Reduce the load and PROGRESSIVELY work up to it.

Slow down a bit. Don't push yourself too hard too fast. As far as your leg pain. If you have an orbital car buffer or orbital variable speed sander: rig up a gentle buffing pad: best quad massager ever!!!!! If not, massage the sore muscles by hand, with a roller or even cold cans/bottles, gently walk (moving will help easy the pain), don't exert the muscles doing other stuff, just give them time to heal.
