Mostly joking but I did eat a few more than I had planned...tracked them and we're all good.

If it fits into your calorie totals, it's inherently disqualified as a binge. I would just call that smart planning and a good allocation of resources!

    It could be. It depends.
My understanding is that binge eating is not the type of food you are eating but the behavior/emotion itself.
An episode of binge eating is characterized by both of the following:

Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g., within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most people would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances.
A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating).

The binge eating episodes are associated with three (or more) of the following:

Eating much more rapidly than normal.
    Eating until feeling uncomfortably full.
Eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry.
Eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much one is eating.
Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty afterward.

Marked distress regarding binge eating is present.
The binge eating occurs, on average, at least once a week for 3 months.
The binge eating is not associated with the recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors (e.g., purging) as in bulimia nervosa and does not occur exclusively during the course of bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

Do you think that you experienced a binge eating episode with your popcorn cakes?

Your standards are so much higher now!! Be proud!

Bounce back! The fall isn't as hard!

I know binge behavior and how the steam needs blown off, good control!! Some people simply do not understand!

Obviously keep them few and far between, but if you have to have them, make them healthy!

If you're eating it for the sake of just eating it/boredom/emotional eating and not because you're actually hungry then yep.

    That's not binging.
    If it's uncontrolled eating, yes.

    That is binging.

It was nothing like described...more like mindless eating...had two popcorn cakes planned and then went back 3 more times and got another one...it's that time of the month...2 months ago it would have been ice cream and chips so I'm proud I made a better choice and kept it reasonable.

I used to binge on the mini ones.. chocolate.. I'd eat the whole bag.. it was just a phase.. I got it out of my system and moved on.. so will you. Up your exercise and you'll be fine! I honestly just learned to work out more because I love to eat! Some times I eat worse than other times, I always feel better when I work harder, because I know I am in better control of things.

Feeling loss of control and dread while eating celery is binging. It's not the type of food that makes a binge, or even the calories, it's the way you feel around that food.

I do agree here, it is a mental issue, but as a binge eater, it is a certain coping mechanism that is maladaptive and in no way healthy. But it is also a impulsive behavior that is very difficult to control in the moment. Which is why those of us with this problem, tend to not keep unhealthy food in the home. That's why we end up using healthy food. Because that's what we have. As someone who has struggled with this, I am proud the next day when I've binged on veggies instead of bread. Any control is welcomed and I'm grateful.

Taking this mindframe has helped a lot, because if I binge on healthy or unhealthy, if I don't see any upside, the binge can go on much longer. Getting active and taking control the very next day, and fighting g the bad with the good, has been the best way to fight it, and a good attitude is a MUST!

I have not had the problem of binging on junk food for me it was almost always fresh vegetables. I have never binged on chips or candy or "junk" food it's always when I restrict those foods that the binging is worse for me. In my home we have to limit fresh vegetables to what will be used within a few days. It's interesting to see how people cope differently.

popcorn cake = rice cakes, comes in many flavors - popcorn, salt free, chocolate, plain etc.

I binge (unfortunately). Recently while trying to eat right, I noticed I "overate". It was not a binge but just a few more than planned. It was interesting to realize the difference between a binge and overeating and not letting the overeating derail me.
