Confession, ugh!
Ok, so first day of eating right was a bust! I am an alcoholic and my choice of poison is vodka. I have come along way to slow down on drinking but got up to half gallon a day and now I am down to a pint a few days a week. So, I did real good staying within my calories until I drank my pint and added it in and found out that a pint is over 2,000 calories. One light beer (yeungling light 12oz) is almost 200 calories, yikes! No wonder I am so fat! I am going to try harder today and keep this in mind before I take another drink of alcohol.

First I would see someone about the drinking. I think maybe if you get that taken care of the fat will melt off.8

As someone who drinks more than a pint of wine a day, I'll just slowly back out of this thread.

Thanks for responses! This is not a joke, but seriously I dont drink everyday anymore but when I do it's either a pint or I try to cut it down to a half pint. I know it's bad, thus reason for slowing down tremendously and I do get my liver checked every year and it is ok. I am trying to completely let go of drinking and yes dr says it will eventually catch up if I dont quit.0 -

Glad you're getting yourself checked out, and you're working on cutting back/eliminating the drinking. I don't drink at all, for health reasons, as well as the fact that it just doesn't really appeal to me, but I do understand the struggle to reduce things that you crave or enjoy for the sake of your health and wellness.
One thing that's helping me to change some of my patterns is to do some guided meditation and mindfulness around what I'm feeling in the moment when I crave a particular something. Then I try to find an alternative that can provide some of the same satisfaction, but doesn't impact me as negatively, or better yet, impacts me positively.
I also find that being on these message boards and reading what other people have to say very helpful and inspiring, and if nothing else- provides some distraction.1 -

OP means original poster. I was drinking everyday as well, and that's what led to my beer belly. If long term health benefits of quitting drinking is a hard thing to utilize as a motivator in the present, use your present weight as one. You just have to go one day at a time and remember, like you've said...before you take a sip, remember how that's going to affect your calorie intake. After two weeks of not drinking during the week, I've lost weight and also look and feel much better. Give yourself a chance, you can do it.1
