Motivation ONLY

So I've had a rough day when it came to eating today. I started off good with a healthy whole grain breakfast then some eggs for lunch but then went downhill from there with the chips and crackers. Sometimes I just feel so out of control and binge eat for no reason. I need some serious motivation or someone who can relate to this.

I think it's normal to have off days, or harder days than others. How long have you been tracking and using MFP? Tell me more about your diet and if you follow and exercise routine etc. Chin up, just keep pushing ahead. Two good meals in a day is better than three bad ones, right? Don't be hard on yourself1

We all have those crap days, what I find helps me is planning my meals and snacks in advance either for the week or a least a day in advance. And also taking all the crap out of my house, so I'm not tempted. Everyone has there thing...you just gotta know what your weakness is and hedge it. Also give yourself some grace when starting out you gonna have a few bumps whilst building this a new habit....Tomorrow is a new day. Keep pushing through. X1

Sounds like a normal day for me, and I've lost 80 lbs.
I try to stick to the food pyramid, which allows for a wide variety of food, and treats in moderation.
You can stick to your calorie limit over a week, rather than every single day, by checking the Nutrition section of the app. This means some days can be higher calories, so long as some days are lower calories.2 -
Do you know what motivation is? It's wanting. Do you want to lose weight? You can't just want the weight off. You lose weight by consistently eating less. How can you want to consistently eat less? This is determined by your own preferences and lifestyle. Maybe your idea of foods for weight loss and healthy food is boring food. That is not the case. You can eat anything you want and lose weight, and no single food is healthy or unhealthy. It's all about balance, context, proportions, variety. Define binge eating. Is it just eating more than you had planned, or is it eating until you're in physical pain? Why do you have chips and crackers available, if you can't control intake of them? Did you know that demonizing something you like, just increases your desire for them?3

I noticed I eat great during the day, especially at work but then when I get home I over eat and regret it- I feel ya believe me and it's frustrating- I am going to try to cut down on carbs- meat- and snacks in general. Have an I watch and treadmill and will get more steps in daily to make up for some of this but I realize the diet is key. We seem to be having the same struggle- hang in there because you only lose when you give up- you can mess up 20xs but as long as you keep trying you will reach your goal.0

I totally understand. This has been my problem for the million times before now I've tried to lose weight. I've only been at it (again) for a little over 2 weeks and using MFP even shorter. BUT... what has been working for me so far:
- I have posted fat and skinny pictures of myself around my kitchen as a reminder of who I am now (fat) who I used to be (skinny & happy). They help when I go to the kitchen for a snack.
- stop eating after dinner. If i feel like I want a snack, I drink water. Lots of it.
- constantly thinking about my "WHY". Why am I doing this (again)? My son is 4 and I don't have the energy to play with him. I'm too fat to lean over the tub and give him a proper bath. He is my why and I WILL do this for him.
These tips may or may not work for you, but they work for me so I thought I'd share. Good luck!0 -
How many chips and crackers are we talking here? Because there's nothing wrong with these types of foods if you enjoy eating them, as long as you're fitting them into your calorie goals. I eat chips or something similar every day and I have no problem fitting it in. But, I plan for it and I always measure out a serving on my food scale.1
