Breastfeeding and Vegan.

Hi all so my Daughter is now over 6 months old and I have been exclusively breastfeeding. I want to start losing weight. I'm not in a big rush so I'm aiming for 1 pound a week. I was wondering if I need to add more calories because I will still be breastfeeding or do I just aim for what my goal is? Also as I am vegan I do eat alot of carbs and staying within my goal is hard does anyone have any tips please? Thank you xox

Can you call your OB and ask for a lactation specialist? This seems like a pretty important issue. Good luck!1

I don't have any advice for breastfeeding, but if you find it hard to stay within your goal due to carbohydrates you can either choose lower calories sources of carbohydrates (I can't see your diary, so I am not sure what you're eating now) or (if you aren't meeting your needs for protein and fat) focus on building your meals around good quality sources of protein and fat first and then adding carbohydrate-rich foods.1

My wife and I have been vegan for over 5 years and She is breastfeeding our nearly 2 year old and a 3 month old! Last year my wife used this calculator to drop about 20lbs before we got pregnant with our second I hope it finds you well!

My daughter is 8mo and when i was EBF her and i was trying to lose weight i still upped my caloric intake but i was very active. I wasnt vegan at the time but there are some options to keep your supply up. I lost 10lbs lactation bites should help just usemaple syrup in place of the honey. I would also speak with your ob or a lactation consultant for.better advice but i totally get that a lot of them arent well versed on veganism.1

I would add 500 cals to your calorie goal
I'm currently breastfeeding my 9 month old and i add an additional 500 to my calorie goal1
