My normal weight is 135 pounds. Last night I binge ate by having a whole dominos pizza, Ben and jerrys, cake and crisps. I just weighed myself and I'm 140 pounds. Is this water weight or fat weight? I do want to put a bit of weight on but not 5 pounds that quickly! How do I go back to my normal weight? Any tips or advice would be great

Even with the binge it's unlikely that you have put on 5lbs of fat overnight. Probably some fat and a lot of water (due to high sodium), extra food in your system etc. Give it a week or so of eating at your normal level and then reweigh yourself. You'll probably find only a small gain left.0

That would be mostly water weight because of the high salt content in the pizza and crisps. Just remember that when it comes to energy each pound of weight gain is 3500 calories and you would have had to eat 17,500 calories to gain 5 pounds. That would be a ginormous pizza!
Just drink plenty of water and the weight will drop back down over the coming days.2 -
Not only unlikely, it's physically impossible. It is normal fluctuation due to your high sodium foods last night. It will be gone in a week, given you're eating as you normally do.2

So you binge ate and didn't think it would affect your weight at all? Really? :huh:3 -
Water weight from carbs/salt. Every gram of carbs will be holding around 3g of water and if you were heavily dieted/depleted the body often hyper compensates with water.
You'll find that if you keep to your plan (if you were dieting before) that the water weight will drop in 4-6 days and in 7 days you'll either be exactly as you were or a pound or two down.0 -

Exactly. We see threads like this almost every day. Even if the poster isn't educated about fluctuations, you'd hope they'd understand the basics of digestion and waste especially since they always write "I know it's not all fat gain and most likely water weight but..." but what? If you already know that, then why do you need reassurance?
OP, I had a fun eating day a few days ago. My weight went from 111.5 to 117.9 overnight. It took around a week for my weight to restabilize. If you're going to have the odd day where you indulge a bit you should get used to the fluctuations, avoid the scale for a few days, or just don't bother with higher calorie days if it's going to affect you too much.2
