You can get any sub made as a salad instead. That's what I do. Not everybody feels this way, but I find it more filling/satisfying - they give you quite the heap of lettuce & spinach, not just the amount of those that would be on the sub.1

My favorite Subway sandwich isn't on most menus any more but they should be able to still make it. Monterey chicken melt - chicken strips, cheddar/monterey cheese blend and bacon, on wheat w/spinach, pickles, peppers, and olives, no dressing. Somewhere around 900 calories for a footlong.0

One glorious season, there was even guacamole. So good on the salad.
Sometimes when I'm out running errands and get peckish, I get one of these babies in the "veggie delite" formulation, with vinegar, salt, pepper, and oregano. It's a giant serving of tide-me-over for very manageable calories.0 -
Oven roasted chicken is my favorite on wheat bread or ham and turkey. I really liked the carved turkey before they took it off the menu. Hope they bring it back at thanksgiving.0

I worked there a while back and I wouldn't trust the calorie counts on anything that is prepped in the back with sauce, mayo or seasoning. We never followed the "recipe" for those and would often use oil to make the seasoning stick to the meat. It wasn't a lot, but it goes to show that stores can differ on what methods they use. Both the tuna and the seafood sensation are made with full fat mayo and I'm sure we used quite a bit more than called for.
But the other stuff is probably fine since everything comes in a packet and is pre-sliced/prepared.1 -
I find all of their subs are super high in sodium.
But when I go, my order is roughly 400 calories (like 430-450?)
6" steak & whole egg on flatbread with spinach, lettuce, banana peppers, onion, cucumber, and brown mustard. I usually don't get cheese.2 -

I think Subway's bread is pretty gross. Whenever I have to eat there, I get a salad with roast beef (no cheese, no dressing) and have either soup or chips to go with it.
I really hate most of their bread and I think it smells like vomit in the restaurants. But I do like the flatbread.1 -
Most of the calories are in the bread (200 - 250), Italian lunchmeat and mayo. Would you like a lettuce wrap with turkey or chicken and veggies? The sweet onion sauce is only 40 calories, so that's okay. You do need some fat in that lunch, so maybe avocado or cheese?0

I use a website called Nutritionix (sp?). They have a Subway "build your sandwich" calorie counter.
You select from a drop down menu your bread, meat, cheese, toppings etc and it gives you the exact nutritional info for that sandwich0 -

Maybe the OP just meant she'd prefer a sandwich with meat so people won't suggest to her vegetarian options to save calories. At least that's how I took it

Not necessarily, I got curious so I looked up Subway's nutrional info. Of course the veggie is lowest in calories, followed by the black forest ham, then club. I assumed chicken would be #1 after pure veggies, but nope... Hmm, learn something new.0 -
Looked up the Subway nutrition info. The lowest calorie subs are (in order): veggie (of course), the black forest ham, then club.
Also, the Mayo on a 6" sub is listed at 110 calories. Omitting the Mayo would be an easy way to shave off some of the calories.0 -
I'm in Australia and my go to fav is a 6" ham and mozzarella cheese (toasted) with lettuce, tomato, capsicum and carrot, with salt and pepper and just a dash of sweet onion sauce. I tend to have it on white bread but something wholemeal/grains would be healthier... Using the calculator (for US) the 9grain wheat bread - it comes to 360 calories all up. That's nearly half of what you're doing now0

Not necessarily, I got curious so I looked up Subway's nutrional info. Of course the veggie is lowest in calories, followed by the black forest ham, then club. I assumed chicken would be #1 after pure veggies, but nope... Hmm, learn something new.

Subway also offers a light mayo. I think if you are going to do any creamy sauce, a little of that would be the best choice of any of them. I can't eat dry sandwiches. I have to have some kind of sauce on it

Mustard has negligible calories.1 -
You could try getting it on a wrap instead of the sub roll, but when I go to Subway, I order the foot-long Club with all the veggies and hots and just enjoy the crap out of it. If I got out to eat for lunch in general, I usually have a very light breakfast and light dinner planned.0

You can have them do a salad instead of a sub. It's the same, just with no bread. I find that it's a cost effective way to get something healthy on the go because you can put a lot more in it than would come with other fast food salads.0

I actually just get the veggie because I love it and it's around 250 calories for a 6 inch.
Chicken breast is yummy as well, cured meats that are full of fat will have more calories.0 -
