Why did my calorie goal drop?

My calorie goal was 1426 until a few days ago I noticed it went down to 1320. I didn't change my goals or activity level or anything at all. My start weight was 155 and a few days ago I reached 140.0. Did my calorie/day change because I weigh less now and now that I have less to lose I have to eat less to still see results?? Help! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm anxious about aiming for a lower caloric intake because I was feeling satisfied w 1426.

You weigh less so you need less calories now...

Thanks for the responses! I still don't know why the number went down. My friend said she reached the same weight and hers didn't go down. I'm already eating pretty nutritiously so if I want to eat the extra calories to feel satisfied and avoid hunger pains then I just will. I'm still curious though so if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears!! (So to speak)

It's because you now weigh less. To keep up the same rate of weight loss, you have to eat less. I remember the first time that happened to me on here, and I was like, "What, my reward for losing weight is now eating LESS?" lol. Someone on here insisted that there is no way it goes down without resetting your goals, but I am 100% certain that MFP automatically readjusted my daily calories when I updated my weight.

Also, I chose to follow the new recommendation and am glad that I did because the weight continued to fall off. I quickly got used to the new amount of calories.

Ok awesome, thank you for sharing!!! I'm so glad to know it's not just me. I wondered if I was losing my mind. I agree, why is my reward for losing weight that I have to eat less to keep seeing these results?!?! Crazy concept! Oh well, if I keep seeing results I'll be happy, so I'll try it out. I already calculated how much I can have per meal so I'm eating steadily through the day. I like to avoid feeling hungry. I just have to adjust my body now!
