ok I am struggling to find the correct food type name for a typical portion of chips from a traditional english chip shop - in the USA they are fries I guess but that is quite different to what a chip shop serves here and chips in the USA refer to what we would call crisps - anybody can help? thanks

Search 'chippy chips' or 'chip shop chips'. :)

You won't get a 100% accurate log but it's still good to register it. Search for Chippy Chips. Compare the size with McDonalds chips. As in how many large McDonalds fries do you reckon that portion of chips equated to. Get that reading then log a chippy item with similar stats. That's how I do it. Also log a tablespoon of oil as chippy chips are oily.
