Lifting advice needed

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me get started.
I have just joined myfitnesspal and I recently became vegan.
My weight is 15 stone 10 lbs and I' am only 5 foot in height (huge I know).

Anyway, I would like to know when and how to start strength training. I have not been active for a long time so I genuinly am a beginner on all levels.
My problem areas are huge tummy, arms and back.
I would like to slim down about 5 stone and lose, tone + strengthen as I do.
Anyone know how to help get me started into fitness with lifting in mind? Heard it is fantastic for mind and body.

    I am 53, 5'6 and was 15st 3 when I started this journey (down 7lbs now). I use Stronglifts 5 x 5 and am really enjoying it. It is just 5 compound exercises over 3 days doing 5 sets of 5 reps each time. The exercises are easy to understand and after 6 weeks I am really starting to see changes to my body. There are lots of free links online and best of all a free app for your phone. Let me know how you get on.
