I retired from military 8 years ago. I quickly gained weight from inactivity going all the way to 299lbs and being diagnosed diabetic. Over the last 18 months, I've lost 100+ pounds but gain 30 back in the last 6 months. I find if I do not track all activity and food consumption I steer off course. So today, I am back on track to stay... just need encouragement from those around me. My boss and co-worker are now starting to eat healthier and exercise, so that will help. I just feel community is best environment for success.

Welcome. My boyfriend is the same only he hasn't lost the weight yet unfortunately and is only now considering it. He is about the same weight as you were. Good luck losing again.

You've survived 8 years post-discharge, and I'm sure you understand how rare that is. MFP is a pale substitute for the structure you had in the military, but it's something you can handle and succeed at managing your weight with.
