they are yam noodles. found in asian and international markets for like 1.50 a pack. they have no taste and work best w/ asian flavors(soy ginger etc)

I've actually tried them. They're basically tasteless. The two key differences I've found between Miracle Noodles and regular pasta are 1) texture - Miracle Noodles are more "rubber band" in texture, more chewy overall and 2) absorption - Miracle Noodles don't absorb sauce the way that pasta does. They work better in broths than they do in pasta dishes.

just the name is laughable... I wonder what it tastes like. looks kinda like ramen. hhmmmmm... seems odd lol
  • I tried them! Very rubbery! They taste exactly like the sauce you put on them. They don't absorb anything.

I love Tofu Shiritaki! But i can see how some people would hate them. I like chewy textures but these have no taste. So if textures really bug you, you may hate them. But they are a miracle!

I've heard some people say that the secret is to cook them twice, and that gives them a better texture. Can't say from experience, though, 'cause I've never been able to find them at food stores around here. I'm thinking of ordering some online just to try them out. If you do, let us know!

I eat these all the time: http://www.shiratakinoodles.net/
40 calories for the entire bag. You have to rinse them well with cold water because they have a bit of a funky smell at first. After rinsing, I pour boiling water over them, and they are great.

    Agreed wash them well.

I enjoy stir-frys and such so these noodles work very well for me. Today I had them for lunch cooked with reduced soy sauce and frozen stir fry blend veggies, fresh mushrooms and red peppers. Topped with a soy-giner marinated piece of salmon and it was an excellent lunch.

The key is to follow the directions. Once you do that, you will be fine. I tend to do a quick boil of my noodles (no more than 2 min) before I toss it into the stir fry or main dish.

Def. will continue to use and incorporate them into more dishes.

Note- mine are by JFC and they have no calories, no carbs. Zlich zero. Great source of iron too!
