I have the app. What is the next move? Do I need a fitness band? I have been working out for years without this tech stuff. Now that I am reaching 50 yrs. old, I am feeling the change, I went to the doctor for my check up and found out I have high blood pressure and gout. What tips and hints can I get to work this technology and get myself to be the best that I can be? I also don't mind having a few friends to help me on this journey.

A fitness band would track both your calories burned and heart rate. Depending on the devices it may log into the app automatically as with my apple watch and ios devices.

    Hi Dave,
I feel ya. 40 has wreaked havoc on me. But, I love my fitness band ( Fit Bit Blaze) to accurately track time working out and calories burned. It also helps track sleep.

You don't necessarily need a fitness tracker to get started. I would start by making sure you are logging your food every day. This way you will be able to see any changes needed in your diet.

If you are looking at purchasing a fitness tracker you have a few options; Polar, Garmin, and Fitbit seem to be the ones I hear about most. I personally have a Fitbit Charge 2 and love it! Fitbit tracks steps, heart rate, sleep, and overall calories burned throughout the day (assuming you wear it all day). Plus you can sync your Fitbit information to your My Fitness Pal account.
