Hi Everyone!!
I just joined tonight & I am looking for some friends to connect with for some extra motivation. I am getting married in 10 months & have 3 stone to lose. It seems impossible & the task is daunting but I'm going to try my very best. Thanks

You can do it! I used MFP to loose weight for my wedding 6 years ago and am now using it again to loose my after wedding and baby weight. ☺️2

My advise is to measure everything..hard at first but gets a lot easier. Exercise 4-5 days a week..get a routine going. Mix it up with cardio and strength training. Find something you like..do it with friends. You can meet your goals!2

You can do it. Set yourself to 1lb per week loss, it's fairly sustainable for those with more than a couple of stone to lose. Focus on what you're doing in the kitchen, than in the gym. Exercise is great for health but your diet is ultimately where you will make weight loss happen - strength training is where it's at for maintaining muscle whilst you lose weight - it doesn't have to be weight lifting, there are many forms it can take. Your calorie deficit is built into your calorie allowance, and you can lose weight without the exercise.
- Get yourself a food scale, even if you're not going to use it for everything, everyday (which is the most accurate way to calorie count) you can see where you might have been overestimating portion sizes, which is something a lot of us are guilty of.
- Log your normal intake for a couple of days.
- Review your diary from those days to see where you are taking in extra calories and if you are getting a good nutritional balance. You can then make small changes to get yourself down to your calorie allowance.
- Implement the changes, they shouldn't be overly drastic, you want to learn to eat in a way you can sustain beyond losing the weight so that you can maintain the weight loss. These changes could be as simple as reducing portion sizes of calorie dense foods, switching to lighter versions of products or substituting foods that you have a hard time controlling intake.
Losing weight doesn't have to a miserable existence, I have lost 35lb in 7 months with just over 30lbs to go, I still eat a lot of what I ate before, I just eat less of it and get more protein in my diet. I am very active but it's mostly walking and jogging I do with a few home youtube strength training workouts per week.
Weight loss isn't easy but it is simple - stick to your net calorie allowance and the weight will come off.

Lost lots of weight with low carb high fat. Went from being a meat and potato person to meat and veggies. I'm diabetic and got off insulin and got into normal cholesterol reading on tests for first time. Doctors at first were not happy but I kept on and they couldn't argue with the results so now many are on board. It is not for everyone but found that the less carbs people eat the faster they lose weight and when you want to maintain your weight lose you increase your carb intake. People often lose the weight and return to all the carbs they ate previously and weight comes right back like before. Went from 228 lbs to 175 lbs, not sure what that is in stones. Now I just monitor carb intake and do intermittent fasting so I'm not grazing all day. No more junk food/fast food either since pretty much every place is a carb buffet. Good luck.1
