i have been using fitness pal for about 2 1/2 mos and lost 13 lbs since starting it. over all lost 46 since my daughter was born in Dec. still wanting to loss 22 more. problem is that i have been on a plateau since July 10 and even tho i have been excersising and dieting (intake 1200-1500 calories daily). not been excerising as much as before as my gym membership has expired and its too hot to run and walk outside. planning on joining another gym this week.
my question is...how can i get over this plateau?

Do you have a neighborhood pool nearby? Or perhaps you can buy a new exercise DVD to change things up a bit. Changing exercises might help to shock your body into losing. You could also trying cycling calories for a couple of weeks.
Best of luck!0 -
Do something different. Walk, jog, the gym might help once you go back, drink more water, eat less sodium. If you aren't eating back your exercise calories, do.0

Lots of people have had quite a bit of luck with Jillian Michael's 30 day shred DVD ... maybe that might help rev your metabolism? And it can be done in the a/c comfort of your own house! (this is what I plan on doing when I move to AZ, where the weather is the 100s for about 3-4 months!)0

I was forced to give up exercise for a while due to old knee and hip injuries. I turned a critical eye to my food diary and made as many improvements as I could. I changed up my meal plans to include breakfast being my biggest meal of the day. I've been eating as clean as possible for the past few weeks and I'm still losing weight without exercise. If you are unable to get in any form of exercise at the moment, look to your food diary and improve what you can. You can get over this plateau!0 -
If you go to this site and read Chapter I it explains why we have plateaus. It also tells you one strategy to deal with them. It has implications for when you reach your goal weight as well. It suggests upping calories a bit and lowering exercise a bit while maintaining your weight until your body sees your new weight as your regular weight. Then your body won't fight you so much.0

I have to agree with the others about changing up the workouts...I usually use my stationary bike religiously but since dealing with an almost 2 month plateau I have since started circuit training - I still use the bike too, and it seems to be working although slowly.
I realize that with weight lifting you'll get ANOTHER gain,:noway: but after awhile the lbs have begin to come off - like I said, slowly but I can definitely see a difference when I look in the mirror. I also upped my calorie goal to 1500 but I've noticed that even if I go OVER, I still do pretty good so I suggest changing up the workouts - exercisetv is great for finding new workouts.
It's really hot here too and I ALWAYS exercise INDOORS because of the heat and I also deal with hot flashes:sad: - ugh:explode: so I really have to be careful about not getting overheated but my new homemade circuit routine is working out well for me and I'm sure that you will bust thru that plateau too...watch the numbers, and change up the routine. I wish you much success!!!0 -
i guess it was just PMS bloat lol, cuz i weighed myself this morning and i was down 3 lbs. either that or i actually had lost weight and my scale isnt sensitve enough.... anyways, 16 lbs since joining MFP, 49 overall, and 19 till my goal!!0
