Goal: Lose 15 lbs & exercise for chronic illness

Options
Hello, this is my first day on the app. I'm 28-years-old and have a chronic illness called dysautonomia. My autonomic nervous system can be dysfunctional and cause an abnormal rise in heart rate upon standing (POTS). I have a small frame and am 5'3". In the past year I gained 15 lbs and virtually stopped exercising. I'm looking to lose the 15 lbs I put on, but most importantly re-condition my body and strengthen my muscles. This will also help my chronic illness. If anyone else has a chronic illness (or those that don't), feel free to message me/add me!

Courtney

Just curious, have you seen a functional chiropractic neurologist? I used to work at a neuro clinic and we saw a lot of patients with POTS. Some of the therapy the neurologist used was mostly chiro based, but it worked on specific areas of the brain that helped patients with some of the symptoms like vertigo and migraines.

    I'm also 5ft 3 (:

I'll send you a friend request

Hi! That's a great idea! I actually haven't seen a functional chiropractic neurologist (probably the one type of specialist I haven't seen)! I'll look into that- thank you for the add and the suggestion!

Hey I have POTS as well and was wondering what kind of stuff they did w. The chiro? My neurologist sent me to a chiro one for help with some headaches. I also have severe vertigo and migraines, etc anyway we ended up having to call the ambulance bc I started having seizure like episodes and convulsing. All she did was give me some kind of deep tissue massage...there was a specific name (I remember my Dr had to write a script. I think it was like myofacial release or something?)
Anyway just wondering what they could/ would do for vertigo. Pretty nervous to go back but would love help! I get steroid war injections once a month but I'm still extremely limited on what I can do and deal with.
    Thanks!
