Anyone else out there like to incorporate this fun (but VERY effective) exercise into their routines? I recently started and I gotta say, it's kickin' my bum! I love it and would like to connect with others who feel the same.

:-)

Thanks for reminding me I am def pulling it out tonight bc my stomach is my problem area and I want to incorporate it in my exercise routine to see if it helps:-) Feel free to add me and we can compare notes:-)

I love hula hooping. Even though it doesn't produce a high calorie burn, it's a lot of fun and trims the waste/hip line! :)

I love it. It really is a great workout. If you're really working it, 30 minutes can burn around 400 calories for me. They have different workouts you can do too. You use muscles you never knew you had! I have a weighted hoop and it does bruise after the first couple of days when I haven't been using it for a while, but definitely love it as a workout.

Hey Camera - you actually do get quite a good burn, but only with the weighted hoop. And definitely the waist/hip trimming. Also, if you get the weighted hoop with the ridges (most do), you are actually doing a sort of massaging therapy on any cellulite you may have the area you are using your hoop. Love it!

    I can't ever keep a hula hoop up. ]:

I like the wii hula hoop, though. :D
  • I love Hula Hooping, I wanted to get a weighted one but never got around to it. I think I need to get back on that search if it does so much good.

I hula hoop! Its so fun! i recently bought one. I was wondering if anyone knew how many calories it burn. I bought it at walmart and it has water it. Is that what a weighted hula hoop means??? The exercise tracker on here has wii hula hooping. is that calorie comparable to the real thing??

Hula hooping has become a challange for me now. I always listen to music when i workout so I like to see how many songs play before it falls. lol. kinda silly. but it gives me something to work torwards. Im up to 3 songs!!

I'd love to get a weighted one and try hooping for exercise. But where do they sell them? I don't have a WalMart near me... there's a Sports Authority and a Big 5 that aren't too far--anyone know if they sell them?

  • Hi all! I bought my weighted hoop at ****s. I'm sure any sports store would have them. You could always order them as well. The smaller the hoop, the more movement it takes to keep it up (i.e. more calories burned). The bigger the hoop, the smaller movements to keep it up. I have a medium sized one and want to get the smaller.
As for the calorie burn with the wii hoop, I don't think it i the same. It all depends on what you do with the hoop. Mine came with an exercise DVD and it's great. You can also youtube some videos for it.

That's funny. It automatically censored my post for the sporting goods store that has the same name as a part of male anatomy.

It's been so fun! My Auntie-In-Law bought me a weighted hoop, and man, it DOES bruise you the first couple of times! But it's so addicting! When I start it, I have to see how long I can go! :-)

Love hooping!!! Burns tons of calories especially if you do advanced moves and jumps! Go to hooping.org to find out more& maybe find a local hoop teacher- they often sell hoops too!!!

Ps I don't use a weighted hoop. Just an adult size! Unweighted hoops still give u a cardio blast!!
  • I like doing it on the wii fit lol...and I do have to say even that works! If you do it long enough you do feel a burn (especially the next day).
