Constant peeing during weight loss

Just started to eat completely healthy and exercise just a little. I can't stop peeing. Literally every 20 mins I'm peeing. Yes I'm drinking way more water than I ever have before I started to change my life style, but damn, every 20 mins? Is that even normal?

Look at the color of your urine, if it is clear you are drinking way too much water. Every 20 minutes!!! That's a lot, if your urine isn't clear (or really pale), go to a doctor. If it is pale/clear: you're just drinking too much water. Back off a bit.

I have always peed every hour or so, small bladder. When I first increased water it was every 15-20 min but after a month or so it went back to every hour.

I went from about 24oz a day to averaging 80oz now

If you just started losing weight, it might be water weight loss.

Go by your urine color as others have stated, and if it's too pale, back off the water consumption.

I probably peed every 20 to 30 minutes when I first started to increase my water intake. Your body needs time to get used to the change. I don't pee as often now. Give it some time. I agree with previous comments as well. Make sure you are not drinking too much water.

I pee a lot too, but I also drink a lot of water. If your urine is clear, you can back off. Eating a low carb/high protein diet can also make you pee more than normal - which is why there is so often a big weight loss the first week or so. After a while your body adjusts.

I'm 286 pounds and I'm barely drinking 64oz of water. Someone my weight and size should be drinking more than that. My pee is defiantly clear. I also and starting to think I have a pea sized bladder then

I eat lots of veggies (compared to when I was eating a crappy diet) and I have 20+ grams of protein each meal. I try to drink 40-60oz of water a day. So maybe that's why.

According to the Dietitians of Canada web site: https://www.dietitians.ca/Your-Health/Nutrition-A-Z/Water/Why-is-water-so-important-for-my-body---Know-when-.aspx

Fluids come from the beverages you drink and the foods that you eat. This handout will focus on the fluids you drink to stay hydrated.

How much fluid you need every day depends on your age, sex and activity level. Hot and humid weather can increase your needs.

To keep your body hydrated, aim for a fluid intake of about:

3 L (12 cups) for men 19 years old and over each day
2.2 L (9 cups) for women 19 years old and over each day.
Fluids include water and other beverages such as milk, juice, broth or soups, coffee and tea. Water is one of the best fluid choices, but it is a myth that you need 8 cups a day to stay healthy.

Fluid helps you stay healthy and energized. It also:

    controls your body temperature
    aids digestion
    carries nutrients around your body
    cushions organs and joints
    gets rid of waste
    keeps your bowels regular
Your body loses water by sweating, breathing and getting rid of waste. If you lose more fluid than you take in you can get dehydrated.

As others have said, give it some time. Your body will adjust. I've had a lot of friends tell me they "can't drink water" because it makes them pee too often. They are like I used to be, drinking a couple cans of diet soda and two cups of coffee per day. I was so used to being mildly dehydrated, it felt normal.

I can almost guarantee if you keep up your water intake in a month from now you'll feel like you're back to going your previously regular amount - or just slightly more often.

Another thing is if you're waking up multiple times in the night to pee, that's probably not good. I'd stop with the water by 6-7 pm if that's happening, even if you're consuming a lot of water during the daytime.

I have to pee very often. Every 20 minutes is either an exaggeration, or you need to lay off the liquids a little. Or there is another issue.

It's normal. It should level off pretty soon.

I am sure this is a stretch, but one of the symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination.

Vegetables contain a lot of water. But peeing every 20 minutes all through the day isn't normal. Do you have to get up at night to pee? I would think a doctor's visit may be called for.

You might have a urinary tract infection, and there is such a thing as an overactive bladder. Best to see your doctor and get it checked as we can't really diagnose you :)

I don;t know how much that is in millilitres but knock it back to drink when you're thirsty, or if you feel hungry (sometimes thirst can feel like hunger so a glass of water can quench 'hunger' in that respect). The idea you need to *drink* a certain amount a day is a myth, since we get a lot of our water from food.

Do you also feel really thirsty or is it just the increased urination?

I don't have diabeates lol. I usually pee in the middle of the day, none at night. Since I've posted this discussion, I haven't been peeing as much. I think my body is getting used to how much water intake I have now, and the veggies and protein I eat. It was just the first 3 days my bladder was like going crazy.

Before I changed my eating habits. I rarely drank water. I was literally drinking nothing at all unless it was black coffee or Starbucks coffee with cream. So that's also another reason why my body was like whoa what's going on here! Lol

If your urine is clear, you are drinking too much fluid.

I pee every 20-30 minutes. For me it's tea that causes it, it feels like it goes in one hole and comes straight out the other! I switch over to water in the early afternoon which slows down the toilet trips a little to maybe once an hour or so.
I also get up once or twice overnight which drives me nuts, doesn't matter what time i stop drinking, i haven't gone a night without peeing for yeeeeeaaaars.

I think that peeing at night is pretty normal after a certain age. At least that's what I keep telling myself. The frustrating thing is that I get up to pee, but then realize I'm thirsty, drink something, and that makes me have to get up and pee again a few hours later.

Fortunately, I have no trouble falling back to sleep right away after all of these middle of the night shenanigans, otherwise I'd be really irritated about the whole thing. I just have to roll my eyes at myself.

Yep, I'm blaming it on age as well. But my sister is 52 and never gets up at night to pee, I think she's an outlier in that regard...

What is her secret? Does she not drink anything after noon or something? Inquiring minds need to know!

I shall grill her next time i see her. When she told me she doesn't get up i just pfffftttded and said whatever lol I know she drinks plenty of wine in the evenings, I've never seen her drink water, maybe the booze dehydrates her, or would that have the opposite effect??

I'm 53 and I've been getting up at night for about 30 years. Honestly, I wake up for many other reasons, not to urinate. But since I'm up, I just figure I may as well use the bathroom.

Now that I am menopausal and I have a very stressful job, I feel like I am a very light sleeper and wake up several times a night and then doze back off. It's not my bladder waking me up, it's must me and then I decide to go. There have been some random nights here and there where I sleep like a log so I don't use the bathroom those nights. I think it's important to distinguish if your bladder is waking you up or you're just waking up and decide to go.

That's a fair point. A lot of times, it's my joints waking me up, but I invariably need to go when that happens.

Body shock , it's water weight your body is releasing. Happened to me when I first started .
