Hair Falling Out

Has anyone had this before? My hair seems to be coming out a LOT more than it ever has before. I have a lot of factors...I have a 15 month at home (so maybe it's hormonal?) I'm a teacher getting ready for school to start (stress?) and I've lost some weight since January- I used WW first and now just using MFP. I weighed 163 in January, now I'm 127 (36 lbs) with a goal weight of maintenance between 120-125. I am 5' 3" 28 years old. I eat 1500 calories a day and am pretty active.

Are you hitting your protein goal?1

So you've been losing about 6lbs per month? That's far too fast, particularly now you are so close to goal. Switch your goal to 0.5lb per week (which will give you 500 more calories per day or there abouts) and make sure you are hitting protein and fat.11

Ah yep, I'm vegan and mine does that when I'm not hitting my protein goals4

All those stressors can contribute to hairloss.
So can a couple of medical conditions.
Why not check in with your gp? They may wish to check your thyroid function.2 -
I am usually higher in protein in my goal and usually a little low in fat.1

I'd say get on maintenance calories now. Hair loss is signs of a body in stress starting about six weeks ago. It's taking protein and anything else it needs from your hair.
First culprit is protein but you say you are getting enough. Eat more protein. And get those fats up. You might be short the fat soluble vitamins. Try adding a whole egg to your mornings.
It will be about six weeks before you know if the dietary changes are working.
Other non dietary causes might be Thyroid or PCOS.5 -

You've lost your weight too aggressively and starved your body of nutrients by eating low cal/low fat. Your body is telling you to eat more. You need more fats and protein.2

I lost a lot of hair as well. I eat good protein and I don't starve myself. A lot of people I talk to mention that it happens. Talk to your doctor who can recommend a dermatologist. There's medicine you can take. I decided to whether the storm, it appears to already be growing back.
My Dr. told me that hair loss can be delayed meaning you may have had a stressful event months ago and your hair loss may just be happening now. That was the case for me.0 -
Get your fat up.1

Healthy fats and fish oil supplements can help a lot.0

I've dealt with this, and I'm still dealing with it. Making sure I have adequate protein in my diet has definitely helped though.0

The healthy oils that WW recommends helped me.0

Also, iron. Iron is necessary for hair growth and if your body is short on iron, it will divert the nutrient to other functions and your hair won't get any. Ask your doc for a ferritin/iron test.3

I'm going to try to get an appointment today! I really don't think I've been starving myself...I'm been looking into Postpartum Hyperthyroidism and think there might be something there.0
