Sounds as if you may have a problem with wine. Start by only drinking wine three days per week. Get used to those non-alcohol days and you will begin to enjoy them. I've had this experience.18

I track my meals as I'm cleaning up dinner and the kitchen for the night. So if I decide I want a glass of wine the next day I just make sure it fits within my calories. I give myself a "treat" almost every night of about 200 calories so a glass of wine easily fits in to my day.2

Man, I love me some wine. Unfortunately, I realized about a year ago that this weight loss thing would never get off the ground unless I cut back, so now I'm strictly beer and hard cider except for special occasions.4

I have a glass (or two) every evening. I add it to my calories in the morning so I leave room for the yummy wine.6

150ml of red wine is 125 calories (at least my red). It's not hard to fit that in my day. My net goal each day is 1420. Usually means I just skip out on some other Carby treat during the day.1

I have a couple of glasses usually on Friday and Saturday night. I just fit it into my calories. I make that easier by not eating back exercise calories most of the time. My problem is that the wine I like is probably the highest calorie wine out there (of coirse).0

I have cut back on my wine intake, but when I do have it I pencil it into my calories for the day. I also like vodka soda, so having one of those instead normally works into my plan a little better.2

You count your calories, you see how much wine you can fit in.
WHEN YOU DO THAT: Measure a pour. The calorie counts for a "Glass" are for a 5-oz pour, generally. Sometimes 6oz. If you have big fashionable balloon glasses, you're probably drinking a lot more per glass.
If you start not eating meals so you can fit in the wine, you've got both a nutritional problem and possibly a drinking problem. Don't do what my alcoholic relative did and get malnutrition and cirrhosis at the same time from doing that.9 -

I like my bourbon on the weekend, and ^^ is what I do. I add them into my diary in the morning, then I know what I have left to eat. Also, you can go on a nice walk or bike ride to make up for some extra calories. I also do this on nights the wife and I wanna go out to eat and I know I'm going to go over.0 -
My most disappointing discovery was how many calories were in my homemade quince and apple cider. They need to invent a truly low calorie alcohol... that also tastes nice.2

Basically it's figuring out what's important to you and planning ahead. I have wine or beer almost every day and still fit into my calories. Now, I can have multiple glasses with out going hungry, but I can work in 1. It's better than nothing.0

Yep, hand up...I'm a wino
Absolutely love the stuff...but I'm recently trying to not drink during the week (unless I've a social on) and only over the weekends. It's made quite a difference as I can be a bit of a light weight so next day snacking is a killer!
Oh...lurrrrrrrvly wine2 -

What exactly made you jump to the OP "has a problem with wine"? Many people consume alcohol a few times per week whilst maintaining a deficit to lose weight and without it being evidence of a "problem"...16 -
I literally pour my wine into a measuring cup and then into my glass and log it lol. If I plan on having more than one I take a 'glass marker' and draw a line where the 5 oz. goes up to and ditch the measuring cup for the night
ETA as far as fitting it in goes... my calories aren't the highest so I have to get some type of exercise in if I'm going to indulge. Even a half hour walk with the pooch helps6 -

I love it in the alcohol threads when someone suggests drinking vodka and tonic as a "diet" drink. I firmly believe that 98% of people who say they like vodka and tonic are lying.4 -
I fit it in the same way I fit everything else in. It's just another source of calories that I have to be aware of. I drink wine nearly every day.0

Unless it's diet tonic it's not low calorie.0 -

I love vodka and (diet) tonic, but I feel as if I'm in the minority. I don't know anyone else personally who enjoys it.1 -

Not tried vodka and diet tonic, but I do like gin and diet tonic.3 -

I used to measure out 5oz of white wine and have a glass or two at night if I could fit them into my calories. At 1200 calories I needed to be careful I wasn't drinking 20% of my daily calories though. My problem was weekends, when I'd eat and drink more and forget to measure. I've stopped drinking alcohol now and find it easier than worrying about when or how much I could have of wine. I'd love a glass of white wine though.........2

I, too, love wine! I wondered the same thing ... if I had to give it up in order to lose the weight. I'm encouraged by all the ones who are in the same boat and all the ideas. I drink merlot as I was told that it's also a low carb wine. I was trying to just use it as a treat on the weekends, but now I see if it fits in my calories for the day, I can drink a little.1

I love gin and diet tonic! If a bar doesn't have diet tonic, I prefer to drink it straight then with regular tonic. Regular sodas taste funny to me and irritate my bladder big time. And gin is the best alcohol imo. I've notice the older I get the more I appreciate bitter flavors like gin and black coffee.
Used to love wine but now it just gives me a runny nose (red or white) I miss it though1 -
Some people love bread and fit it into their daily - I love wine. I fit it into my daily. Moderation is the key.2

I used to until I discovered that soda water is a different thing (duh! lol) now I'm a gin and soda with lime girl1
