Treading Water at best lately

Good morning! To keep it simple if you can share anything at all, I don't care how small it may seem to you, that helped you on your journey in regards to feeling completely discouraged and undisciplined in food department.

If you are just starting out and you set your weight loss goal to 2 pounds per week try lowering that to 1 pound per week.
Plan your meals the day before and leave 100-200 calories for unexpected treats.1 -
I tend to focus on each individual meal. To celebrate a good meal that I don't slip up on. When I do slip up (which is frequently) I don't beat myself up. Just pick myself up and try to do better.0

I think everyone has those times when they just aren't feeling it. To keep going through them, first of all I log everything, and then I try to do just a little something. If I don't feel up to my usual workout I say, well, I will just do a few minutes slowly, or do some stretching, or do half my usual strength routine. Then by the time I have done that I usually feel better and finish the whole thing.
It can also help to give yourself permission to have just a little of whatever you are craving. I'm diabetic and have problems with refined flour and sugar. I was craving chocolate chip cookies so much I was dreaming about them. One big cookie has more carbs than I can safely eat at a time - more than an entire meal for me! What I did was find some cookies that looked good, buy a bag with 8 small cookies, and eat half of one. Problem solved, I didn't destroy my blood sugar, and I feel much more in control knowing I can have more if I want to.

Keep logging as accurately as possible, even if you know you've gone over your allotted calories. Remember that going over your allotted calories can still leave you with a small deficit, or that you're at maintenance. Don't automatically start negative self talk that you've failed, when you may really just be progressing more slowly than you would like.
Take some time to review your weekly net calories. Al long as you're in a deficit for the week, you're on the right path. Just resolve to do better next week, rather than beating yourself up over perceived failure. Some weeks, I do great at staying within my allotted calories. Some weeks, due to stress, vacation or family events, I barely have a deficit. I've still lost 45 pounds in the last 14 months, by not giving up. Keep reminding yourself that this is a lifestyle change, not a quickie diet.0 -
