I dont know who read this or who could help me on this, but id need some imput, i work night shift remodelling stores, kinda low to mid active at job, me and my girl just recently started goin to gym and trying eating more healthier/less portion food, here what my day consists of, walking up, sometimes a 1-2 serve of cereal, at break- a apple, lunch- a chef salad, 1-2 serve of french dressing and a pro2snax, last break- another apple or pro2snax, home dinner 4-8oz of meat choice, 1-2 serve of 2 sides consists of any of these mix(corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and yes this is all about i eat of what i like not really any more sides dishes i like) i dont know if this seems like a lot or not, its hell alot less i usually used to eat of it (sides serving about 1/3-1/2 my plate with 3-4 peice 4oz meat choice) and now we are goin to the gym, still just trying to get used to it, we there for about hour-hout and half a day 3-4 times a week (about 750-1000 calories burn a week i guess average), according to workout/food app calculators with the strength and cardio its a out 175-500 calorie burn a day (seems low to me) is this good or no of losing some weight like 1-5lbs a week? I am 249lbs 5"4 age 25, new to this whole thing, this says i should eat 2650 calorie intake but im at 1700-2200 most days, is that goin give me a negative effect on plan since im not hitting that goal and working out some days? Any info will be appreciated thank you

You have to log correctly to see if you're eating the right amount of calories. Weigh everything and use correct enties, and log that exact amount.4

You should weigh and log your foods to find out how many calories you are eating. Since you eat mainly the same thing every day, this will get easier over time since you can pick from your recent food entries instead of having to make new entries for each meal.

2200 is not gonna kill you. You may wanna eat the 2650 on your work out days.
You sound like you're on a good track though, I'd say that the most important thing would be to log your calories and stay honest about it.0 -
Unless you are weighing that cereal I bet you are eating more than 1 or 2 servings. Cereal is a calorie bomb and hard to measure correctly....2

So, here is the quick scoop.... carry on with what you're doing and adjust based on your results.
I have the sneaking suspicion that what YOU think is a serve and what a scale thinks is a serve are vastly different.
Because of your weight and activity level, the 2600-2700 figure to eat while losing weight is correct. In fact it may even be low given that you work at remodelling stores...because a construction shift would push your activity level up to very active as opposed to low or mid active.
However.... well remember the part where your various sides and food items probably weigh and add up to more than you think?
So... you have two options.
One is to get a heck of a lot more precise on everything.
And that includes weighing everything on a scale before and after cooking (if you're splitting between the two of you). Choosing entries you personally verify for everything and basically micro-managing everything to a considerable extent, just like I am
OR.... just adjust by eating a little bit more or a little bit less based on your weight trend results, which might be more of your cup-o-tea.
I would strongly suggest that you start using happy scale for the iphone, libra for android, or www.trendweight.com or www.weightgrapher.com to figure out the changes to your weight level over time.

Nice job! You might consider swapping. cereal for something that sticks with you a little better - like eggs, oatmeal, fruit, veggies, Ezikiel muffin with PB, etc.0

at your weight you are not going to be able to consistently losing 5lbs per week - so you can get rid of that expectation right now!0 -
Log your age, height, weight, 1-1.5lbs weight loss per week and eat what MFP suggests. Get a food scale and start weighing your food. You'll be shocked that 1 serving of cereal is actually very, very small looking in that bowl.0

You are on the right track. To lose weight and keep it off you must be patient. Be willing to lose no more than 2 pounds a week. Eat things you like but in smaller quantities. Nutrition for me came partway down the road as I started wanting to eat more food for less calories. The sides you are choosing are pretty high calorie, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and yes even peas and corn. That's totally up to you but you do need to weigh them and log correctly. I eat all those things (except the mac and cheese) although I don't eat a half plateful. As a man who is more active you get alot more calories than I do as a sedentary 60 year old woman so you can afford a bit more food. I said all that to get to the point of you must weigh your food to get a realistic idea of how many calories you are really eating. If you don't we will see you in a new thread asking why you aren't losing. This happens all the time because none of us who were overweight had a true idea of what a single serving of food was. That's why we're here, lol. There's lots of good advice in this thread. If you follow it you will be successful. Good luck my friend.1
