Catcalled on my afternoon walk

I've been steadily feeling more confident in clothing the more I lose, to the point I wore a pair of skirted leggings on my afternoon walk (I don't do pants). It's been about 15lbs since I last wore them and this time I didn't feel I needed to hike my skirt down every other step. Now it must be said, I have a severe genetic case of White Girl Booty (diagnosed at age 12 months when my German great-grandmother saw me toddling in diapers and declared, "she's one of us, all right").
So this afternoon, as I am enjoying the unusually overcast and cool August day in my little pocket of SE Georgia, I walk past a trio of 12-year-old boys. One stops, beholds, and calls out to his friends and the heavens above, "Look at that *kitten*!"
And I turned and shouted "thank you!"
I won't lie, it honestly felt kind of awesome. It was like, "hell yeah, I have a nice *kitten*, I've been working hard on it all summer. Thanks for noticing!"
His buddies immediately cracked up and started joshing with him and he was clearly embarrassed but taking it well. If nothing else, he has a story to tell the other guys at school tomorrow and I can't help but hope I made his day, because he certainly made mine.
TL;DR: I am the worst feminist ever.

Great job on the weight loss! I have a similar story: I have lost 71 pounds since July 2016 .. while walking to my gym in workout clothes at 6 am I passed a homeless man. I smiled and said " good morning" to which he promptly mumbled something and then said "skinny *kitten* bi*ch". I was so excited as I had never been called a skinny anything my entire life!13

This may seem good the fist time or two, but you may not welcome it the more it happens. There was a recent thread on this topic, here was one of the links posted to that thread.

It's absolutely fantastic you are feeling so confident and I fully sympathise with the booty but.....
This. I have been catcalled since I was about 13, 22 years in and it wears thin. When I was at my biggest it happened a lot less and I didn't realise how awesome that was until it restarted. It's aggressive and creepy. I get men whispering just loud enough for only me to hear as I walk past, honked by vans, I've even had someone pull up next to me on the opposite side of the road while waiting to pass roll down his window and make a comment. Not cool.
I also had a group of teenage boys yell "fat *kitten*" as they drove past once. I'll give them that it was true but still, not okay.5 -
To clarify, this isn't the first time in my life this has happened. Far from it. I matured early so I was getting comments since I was around 11 years old. And honestly? As an adult, I'm totally fine with it. Frankly, it happens so rarely that it's an unexpected boost to my day when it does occur.
Let's be straight, I don't discount that a ton of women feel awful and uncomfortable when this happens, but, I'm just not one of them and I think it's okay to feel that way as well. And, this was the first time kids literally young enough to be my own ever made those remarks and I can't help it, I thought it was kind of cute. Pre-teen boys are so inherently awkward, it's kind of charming.9 -

As a male, this article was eye-opening when I first read it. I don't agree with catcalling as a practice, but @vegaslounge those little victories are just so sweet. I remember about a year ago when I was working my last job. I ran into an former coworker ("Dave") who had switched companies. "Dave" started chatting with my then-work-partner ("Jim") as they had been friends. When I addressed Dave by name, he looked confused. Couldn't even recognize me since I'd lost about 50 lbs since I'd last seen him. Those moments are just wonderful and worth every counted calorie haha2 -
Close! Black though, with a tighter skirt and just a leetle too thick and too much artificial fiber to comfortably wear during summer. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0168YADO4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As I said in my OP, I just don't do pants– with rare exceptions I've strictly worn skirts since I was about 14 years old– I'm not a cultist or anything (there is a cult in my town with a strict dress code), I just don't like how pants feel and look on me. These leggings are a nice compromise for athletic gear. I do historical reenactment for a living, so I honestly feel more comfortable in a corset and bonnet than I would in a pair of jeans. C'est la vie, to each their own.1 -
It's a real "pick your day" for me, sometimes I get a kick out of catcalls, other times they irk me. I did get professionally sleazed today and that really annoyed me. I walked into Court, my barrister and the other side's barrister was already there. The other sides barrister says "Oh, this must be your instructor - *my* instructor doesn't look like that" and winked at me. His instructor is a guy in his mid-60s. F off, I'm a goddamn professional in a professional setting.1

I completely get that. I've had occasions where co-workers (male and female) were getting too friendly and I shut that down immediately. We're at work, you treat me like a colleague. I grew up with two overly-protective older brothers, I know boundaries and how to physically flatten your butt if you ever try anything.
To quote one brother, "Fight like a chimpanzee. Aim for the eyes, fingers and genitals."
