I work out at PF too, and though I'm new it seems to work for me-i do wish they had trainers on site to answer questions and correct form and all that! I rely on my husband but wonder if we would be better served being at a pro gym?

Yea actually-my husband and I have started really getting focused on lifting weights. When we use the squat rack, I never know how far to go-I've seen some guys go almost to the ground and some barely do a demi plie'... which was is correct?

The typical squat includes feet shoulder width apart, 90degree angled knees. (Like sitting in a chair) eyes forward, neutral spine and a weight you're able to do 10 repetitions without incorrect form. there are many how to's Acefitness website has a lot of tips and tricks !

Despite all the negativity I hear about PF, it'll always have a special place in my heart. I've belonged to 4 different gyms at some point and I didn't see results until I signed up with PF. I lost around 80 lbs in a little less than 6 months at PF because of the sense of welcoming you feel when you walk in. I recently began strength training and I know their weights aren't as heavy as most gyms, but it's perfect for me right now. So yeah, I enjoy Planet Fitness

I use the smith machine. Of course it won't use your stabilizers as much. However, you definitely can do variations of each exercise.

Not even close to the same. And a questionable range of motion. Nope. No Planet Fitness for me. I'll take a real gym, thank you.

Are you serious.... Is that actually your only option? :o

They have free weights, strength machines and various other accessories. Just because we have a smith machine doesn't mean you can't get a good work out with 350lbs :)

It's not for everybody too, there are other gyms out there! Working out in general is beneficial, no matter the gym.
