Hi everyone. I have been here for a couple of months and have lost over 40 pounds. Recently though I have not felt the desire to exercise or eat healthy. I have not gained weight but I fear I might if these habits continue. Any idea how I can get that motivation back?

Do you feel better now than when you were carrying the 40lbs extra? Has it made your life better losing the weight? Think of all the ways it has. Write them down. Pin them somewhere you will see every day to remind yourself.

Motivation is overrated. It's too fleeting to support you long term.

So much this! Long term success requires dedication.

You just have to approach it like any other self care thing you do that you wouldn't compromise on; like showering, brushing your teeth etc. I struggle with motivation too, but I know if I don't persevere my health is compromised. I don't always do what I know I should but I continue to try-even when I am unmotivated.

Motivation is a fleeting emotion...you have to take the emotion out of it.

I do what I do because it's what I do...it's habit and discipline. I typically enjoy riding my bike, but this morning I was extra tired after a long week and really didn't feel like going on my morning ride...but I went anyway because that's what I do every Friday morning...once I was on my bike and the crisp new morning was on my face, I was just fine and felt ready for the day afterwards.

I'd also suggest you find some kind of exercise that you enjoy doing...not that you will always feel like doing it, but you're going to feel like doing it more if it's something you actually enjoy. I thoroughly enjoy riding my bike and rock climbing which are my two main forms of exercise along with Olympic lifting...
