slimmer thighs

I have always struggled with short stubby legs! I run and really haven't noticed a huge change in my legs. Would a recumbant bike help to slim down my upper legs?

Biking actually will bulk up your glutes and upper thighs, because those are the muscles that it works. Running doesn't necessarily give you slim legs either. I would focus on yoga, Pilates, brisk walking. Not biking.
Tracy Anderson's workouts would be good too, they work on all the accessory muscles instead of the main, large muscles, for a long, lean, ballet dancer look. http://tracyandersonmethod.com/ Check out Gwneth Paltrow's blog with before and after photos...pretty impressive. http://goop.com/newsletter/120/?utm_source=Goop+Newsletter&utm_campaign=fd5f66f44f-Goop120_03_10_2011&utm_medium=email
You want to avoid something that bulks your large muscles. For example, I love Jillian Michaels, but her workouts make you bulky and thick looking, not long and slim.
Overall, it's important to tone, but more important is to lose weight. You can work the muscles underneath you want, but until you uncover them and remove the surrounding fat, they aren't going to be visible. I've seen that with my belly....I was doing ab exercises in an effort to lose my belly, but nothing happened until I actually lost the weight that I was carrying there.0
