You can go there, just choose from the WW options. They have some salads and tilapia that are really good and low cal. Don't worry - just think of it as lesson learned and next time go for the lighter fare!

Had to edit, apparently my brain's spell checker is slow tonight.

I know I went for the bad stuff but I seriously did not think it was that bad I was shocked when I seen how much it all added up too. Tomorrow its back to water and excersize! But I will definately use this as motivation next time I get a craving. :grumble:

I love applebees however don't like the idea that all the WW choices are not all in the same area anymore. I think its a lot more tempting for us to go to something else. Not every nice. :grumble:

Applebee's is one of the very few places I'll go out to eat at, as I always go for the WW choices. Unfortuantely it is difficult to find calorie counts on most Applebee's stuff but I take my trusty cell phone and always research what I am going to eat or search it out beforehand and stick to my decision. I forget what it is I wanted from there not too long ago but it was about 1300 calories. Yipes! Of course if I really wanted something like that I'd divide it in half and take the rest home to my kid.

In my state, they are now required BY LAW to present you with the calorie count for their menu items. Makes it a whoooole lot easier!

Real Buffalo wings are deep-fried and tossed in a butter-based hot sauce. This is what makes them great, but not good for watching your waistline. But could I go through life never having another wing? Not an option, so the "Almost-As-Good, Not-Quite-A-Wing-But-Close" was born.

    Ingredients:
2-3 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    1/2 cup - 3/4 cup 99% fat-free chicken broth
1/2 cup - 3/4 cup Franks' Red Hot Sauce (amount used depends on amount of chicken and how saucy you like it.)
Celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing for dipping; served on the side
    Preparation:
Slice the breasts into 1" wide strips.

Spray a non-stick frying pan with cooking spray and brown the chicken until it's cooked through.

Mix together chicken broth and Franks' Red Hot Sauce and add them to the chicken.

Lower the heat, cover the pan, and simmer the chicken for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and is coating the chicken in a beautiful, glossy layer of spicy goodness.

You can adjust the hotness of the chicken by adding more or less hot sauce in proportion to the chicken broth. For folks who like their wings on the mild side, 1/4 cup of hot sauce to 3/4 of broth might help keep the "heat" down. If you like your wings to be incendiary, or nuclear, as we like to say, then increase the hot sauce and decrease the broth.

Serve them with the prerequisite celery sticks and (low-fat) blue cheese dressing on the side. It's as close to an authentic Buffalo Wing experience as possible, without destroying your diet.

I don't even have to put any brown sug. or butter on it. I have to stop eating one every night though! lol
They are amazing. My hubby likes the white yams, but I like the good ole fashioned orangish ones.

I went to TGI Friday's tonight and was pleasantly surprised by all of the new low fat and low cal menu items they have. I got the Jack Daniels Chicken which was served with yummy mashed potatoes and a generous portion of broccoli and green beans for 500 calories. My sis got shrimp skewers and broccoli for about 255 calories. Much better than Applebee's!:flowerforyou:

Yeah I will definately not be having boneless buffalo wings for a long time to come UNLESS I make them myself from now on. I wish that they would put how many calories and fat calories were on it right on the menu ugh oh well its my fault tomorrow is another day.
  • Hi :flowerforyou: I'm sorry you had a bad experience there.:ohwell:

My friend asked me out to dinner tonight, and I picked Applebee's. I went online last night and checked out the menu. I ordered the 7 oz steak (330 cals) with garlic and mushrooms, baked potato, and veggies. MMMM good. The steak was cooked right --juicy. I had just sour cream on my baked potato. I got out of there under 500 cals EXCEPT I saved up calories from exercising and earlier in the day to have the Sizzling apple pie with ice cream... 1089 calories! Whew! That was really scrumptious

I'm going back on Saturday to have lunch with my parents! I'm having 1/2 grilled shrimp salad for 273 calories. Good stuff.

If you plan ahead it's not so disasterous. The trick is to plan ahead and work the plan.

SO there ya go, not even a lb will you gain :flowerforyou: Don't worry about it, you should have seen my with the cheescake at christmas  We all fall down, the ones that really want it, they get back up again. I did this with the Longhorn Steakhouse cheese fries. My husband and I were splitting them until I found out they have 1730 calories in them. Now I get a house salad and the seasonal vegetables, lol!
