Don't know that I ever heard this advice, but whenever I have an issue, I always ask myself "Is this one instance more important than my relationship?" The answer has always been No and so that puts things in perspective.

I always think the same thing. When I am frustrated or upset I take a second and ask myself if the issue is really an issue or am I just tired/stressed. I almost always realize that an issue is not a big deal.

Dont put expectations on a relationship that end up ruining it.

If you pour your heart out and they dont reciprocate - chances are it will end quickly.

If you check your emotions and simply enjoy their company - chances are you'll at least get to enjoy their friendship.

Better to have a friend and not be 'romantic' than to not even get to enjoy that person one at least some level. On one level, you have to be friends w/ your SO/spouse so you may as well enjoy the journey. Don't dramatize it before its time...

"Show me a beautiful woman and I'll find you a guy who is tired of her crap."

-- My grandfather when explaining there were things more important than physical appearance to young guy just starting to "notice" girls.

I am certain that goes for all genders and orientations.

If you have to break bad news to a guy, do it after sex, they are more receptive at that time

Love is a disease that spreads. Make decisions with your head and not your heart.

Give a man a fish...,...., teach a man to fish and he's fed for life.

Unlike table manners, you dine first then offer your guests the chance to after.

This is a fishing trip advice thread right?
Fishing trip? Does that include camping trips?

"Build a man a fire and you keep him warm for the night.
Light a man on fire and you keep him warm for the rest of his life." - Me

*Do not ever actually light people on fire. That is not very polite.

I think that is more messed up than my advice about keeping people warm.

everyone should be forced to wear a dot on their head... green if they have seen their shrink in the last 24 hours, red if they have not... it would make things so much simpler

•" if a man won't sacrifice for you what you sacrifice for him, he's not worth it".
    • " Don't fall for words. Words are wonderful, but if he doesn't prove it with actions, don't waste your time".
    • "Dont settle"

As a woman "Always make sure you are self sufficient in everything, then when you meet a man he is a bonus to your life not a necessity"
