I have just turned 40 and am aiming to train for the Great North Run next year. I need a challenge to keep myself motivated.

Sounds like a great goal! I did the Great Birmingham Run half marathon a few years back and I was a total beginner 6 months prior. So you can do this!1

I did a 10k run earlier in the year. It helps keep me more motivated when I have something to aim for. I feel now Im 40 I need to push myself more1

I'm not a runner but a challenge is probably a good idea for motivation, and good luck. Do you follow a training programme?
