Hi, I have been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and need to lose weight. I have been managing my weight on my-fitness pal for years, but I am yo-yo-ing every month. I weigh myself every morning, so I know what's happening to my weight. I have set myself up with a 1,500 calory daily diet. I have very poor self-control when it comes to eating. I limit myself to a 2,000 mg of salt daily and seem to handle that well. I limit myself to 64 oz of water daily. I need to work on my diet to get to 185 pounds, but I am having a terrible time getting there.

Are you cleared for exercise yet? That made the biggest change for my friend.

He is the cook in his family so he started each day by preparing a large salad, which accompanied his lunch and dinner.

Even though the need is dire, the cure is steady and progressive. No yo yo.

Is 1500 calories per day sustainable for you?

It will be if the need is truly "dire"

Are you male or female? How did you come up with 1500 calories? Was that from MFP or your doctor or another source? How active are you?

I see from your profile you are male. What's your age, height, and current weight? Is your job active or sedentary? Do you exercise?

Depend on all the above, 1500 calories might not be sustainable for you. Undereating can definitely lead to overeating.

Also, if you are not eating satiating foods you will likely have difficulty adhering to a calorie budget. Please change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
