Nuvaring - what's going on here!

I recently switched from the Pill to nuvaring. Been on it for two weeks now. I know, I have to give it more time to settle itself out, but things are weird. For starters, my period has not stopped since I inserted it two weeks ago. Secondly, my stomach is so protruded and massive.

I'm frustrated by the big belly, I mean, I always had some flab on the pill, but nothing this drastic.

I'm seriously thinking about giving it up and returning to the pill. Any experience with this?

I don't know what to tell you; I didn't stop bleeding for 2 weeks after starting hormonal birth control so I stopped and am getting an IUD instead.

Is the belly from water retention/bloating? I don't know if exercise helps but since I've been working out more regularly those have gone away. Drink lots of water and stay hydrated.

My guess is the belly protrusion will stop when the bleeding stops; if you're seriously concerned though talk to your doctor, since they might be able to better tell you how long to wait for things to even out.

I tried the Nuvaring once and it gave me mother-of-god-I-want-to-die crippling stomach pains, so I'm not a fan. The doctor immediately removed it and I was better within a day or so. I'd definitely go see your doctor about these side effects.

I've used it for years without issues, but people respond differently to different medications. If you think you've given it enough of a shot, then by all means, switch back.
