Has anybody used a fitbit to track calories burnt and if so is it good?
I'm in the U.k and they aren't available to buy in this country yet but I'm thinking of getting one imported. Just want to know a little more about it before I spend the money.

I use the fitbit. I still track my calories on myfitnesspal and I log them in the fitbit website - I just log one entry for the entire day. I find that's it fairly accurate. I also have a hrm that I use just to monitor my calories burned and heart rate duing my workouts. I love wearing the fitbit - not as fancy as the body media but it also not the price either.

I've been using my fitbit since November of last year though i've only really been actively trying to lose weight since June.

    Pros:
Small, lightweight and effortless - its transmits data to the base station automatically.
Great way to keep an eye on your activity and how it varies day to day.
No monthly fee - You can buy the extra analytics for 50 a year but the basic service and tracking is free.
Tracks sleep - great to get and idea of how well you sleep.

    Cons:
Small, yes this is a con too, its often easy to forget you had it on.
Only water resistant - Do not get it wet, washing machines can kill them.
Can be slightly off, driving in the car or sitting on a train can vary the numbers. I try to check it myself before and after a trip to see.

Otherwise honestly I love it, its a great reminder each day of how active I am, and it doesn't require a monthly fee.

I will have to try the one persons suggestion about logging a single item for each meal, assuming you use a custom food?
