Strength training while still loosing weight

Hey guys! I'd like to start building muscle and toning now that I have lost more than 50% of the goal weight. I have about 15 lbs to go, and would just like to get some muscle but now get ripped I guess. I'm starting from zero so I need some help to get into it. I'm incredibly shy so I have a hard time getting off the treadmill at the gym.

It's almost impossible to build muscle in a deficit, but you can strengthen what you've got. I bought a book on strength training for women and got some dumbbells and other equipment. I've been working out at home for about 6 months.0

Start strength training as soon as possible. Lifting while you are on your weight loss journey helps retain the muscle you have to improve your body composition when you get down to goal. However, you most likely won't build much, (or any) muscle in a deficit.
I would follow an established program .. there is a sticky in the Gaining Weight forum with a list.

Strength training is for sure a good thing. It's always been a big part of my exercise regime, including when I am cutting weight. They key is to keep the intensity up (pacing). If you need guidance for strength training, there are a lot of resources out there that can be helpful as you get started, such as trainers, workout programs from various places, or chatting with experienced people in the gym or that you already know.0
