    I effing HATE soccer.

    During a team meeting, we had a linebacker coach, in regards to soccer, quip: "Americans are far too intelligent to play a stupid, communist sport."

    I was surprised that he even regarded it as a sport, rather than a recreation.

    Our placekicker was from Denmark. I think maybe he compared the on campus enthusiasm for football verses soccer. In his view, football won on all counts.

    I tried to give Euro soccer a chance; I did.

    I watched a Champions League game. I think it was Man U or Liverpool or some other team.... it doesn't matter.

    Anyway, the players walked around for a couple of hours and faked a couple of injuries (really?) and the game ended up with a score of nil to nil. (really?)

    The players hugged and walked off the field with smiles after failing to score. (really?)

    The upside to watching the match is that I now understand soccer hooligans.
    If I had to sit through such boredom, week after week, as the most popular game in town, I too would want to riot.

    I love the hate on soccer. I don't consider it a sport either. No skills involved, just kick and chase the ball over and over.

    Please don't misunderstand my post, I have a great deal of respect for soccer.
