I recently started the Keto diet, in hopes that it helps with my hashimoto's. I'm looking for feed back from any others who have the dieses and are doing Keto. What have your results been positive or negative?

Hypothyroid here and so far it's been great. I haven't tested to see if it's helped with my levels, but others have claimed it helps with theirs. The biggest change I've seen is ENERGY. Not a lot. I'm not bouncing off the walls or running marathons, but somewhere I went from sluggish to not tired all the time. That and inflammation is GONE. I wake up and my joints don't burn and there is a clear reduction in my arthritis. My sil has been on meds for arthritis for 10 years. She hasn't taken any since starting keto. And I don't know if you had issues like me with feeling hungry thanks to the disease, but I don't any more. That took a few weeks as I adjusted, now I'm forcing myself to eat. And no more swelling or choking feeling in my thyroid gland. These are just my experiences.

I've been doing keto for a few years, and have hashi's too.

I find keto helps with autoimmune pain, and my hair is finally thickening up a bit again. I think keto does lower inflammation but it has not fixed my hashi's nor lowered my requirements for meds. In fact, this past winter I needed to raise my dose another 30mcg because I was getting tired and gaining weight again - I normally have great energy and steady weight if I stay keto. I was increasing my carbs to the upper keto limits at the time, so that might have played a role, or maybe not.

Basically, my overall results from keto on my health have been positive (better skin and hair, steadier weight, better energy, less pain) but I don't know if that was by improving my hashi's autoimmune attack or just by reducing symptoms. Either way, I feel better.

The group linked above is very good. Many there are using LCHF to deal with autoimmune issues.

    Good luck.

Thank you both, I did a web search on the benefit/side effects of the diet for people with Hash, but I couldn't find any clear answer, so it's encouraging to hear that others have had good success with it.
