Low Carb Vegan

New to vegan lifestyle. Too many carbs aren't good for my insulin resistance. Anyone have the same problem?

Why are you going vegan? Did you watch a movie? If you make a way of eating too hard, you might not stick to it for life. I cannot imagine life without eating a great piece of salmon.

I'm not vegan as I consume once in a while whey protein and/or milk in my coffee. But apart from that, no eggs, no flesh. For 7+ years. And it's been awesome. That being said, I do not watch my carbs so much... What I can suggest is in the food and nutrition section of the community board, I've seen many threads and discussions with regards to low carb vegans. Go take a look as you'll find recipes as well :-)

It depends, if you are "vegan" for health, then that's just being plant based, you can be healthy eating other stuff. If however you are vegan for ethical reasons, well it's a bit tricky, I try to keep the carbs "low" for my macros, but the lowest I can manage is around 148 grams, no less. There are some pages about it.. let me

I know you aren't asking about keto specifically, but this recent blog post may be of interest to you: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/articles/how-to-do-ketosis-as-a-vegan

Low carbohydrate veganism is possible, although I personally think the diet would be rather limited and challenging (not that my personal opinion matters much when it comes to what you eat).

Tofu, tempeh, seitan are good options; vegan protein powders; mushrooms; spinach; nuts and seeds... is it important to cut all carbs or just refined/processed carbs? The carbohydrates from peas, lentils, broccoli, and potatoes might be alright for you, they might not, depending on your goals.

Obvious disclaimers about me not being a doctor blah blah blah, but I have heard several anecdotal reports from vegans with IR that the carbohydrates in beans, vegetables, and sometimes whole grains don't cause problems for them.
