I'm 6'7 and 275 pounds. I also play baseball with a vigorous conditioning program. I'm only eating about 1100-1400 calories on the day but I'm not starving myself either I just have no appetite. Should I force myself to eat more and hit my macros to see results or what? I'd like to see more weight loss results.

Do you value your health? Want to keep what muscle you have? You should be eating at least 1500 calories - probably a lot more than that. Hopefully you're just really bad at logging and eating a lot more than you think.2

I do lift quite often. I do value my health as well and no I've tracked all the food I've eaten. I eat the same thing everyday basically. I have good muscle tone as well (not where I'd like though). So you're answer would be to force myself to intake more calories?0

Are you using a food scale?
How long have you been logging that amount of calories?
How much weight are you losing per week?0 -
You're eating 1100-1400 "on the day" but what are you eating at night? Because nobody is going to be able to be successful following a vigorous conditioning game program, including lifting, on those calories. Especially not a young man at your stats.
How long have you been tracking calories? How much have you lost per week for each of the last four weeks?0 -
you put weight on, So clearly you can eat more. Vast majority of people who start a diet have a honeymoon phase, Where you seem to be. Youll feel fine, Energetic and overly happy about it. You will feel fine, Until you dont. And thats where most people begin yo-yo dieting or just give up and fail.
Your body needs nutrients, Calories are important. Your body wont hesitate to begin eating your muscles- your heart is a muscle. You do yourself zero favors eating so few calories when you dont need to. Trust me iv been there done that, As a tiny female i have to eat low- And have through my entire transformation (105 pounds lost) Just for transparency i say this. I realize the hypocrisy.
That said, Yes you need more calories. Absolutely. Even small men need a 1500 MINIMUM and thats for small men who arent active at all. Get a fodo scale if you dont have, Track accurately, And eat atleast what MFP tells you to eat- Including atleast a little more on heavy exercise days. You dont want to lose your muscle, Trust me. Carrying around weight puts on lovely muscle and life is SO much beter when you dont lose that muscle youll look way sexier at the end. Wish i listened to that myself2 -
I'm a foot shorter than you and I lose weight eating 1800 cal/day (I'm also strength training and working out regularly). With that few calories, I'd be worried your body just isn't functioning optimally for weight loss.
If it's in your budget, protein shakes would be an easy way to get more calories and protein and it would support muscle growth from your training (thus helping to increase your metabolism).0 -
@jemhh that would be all I eat, I don't eat past 8 pm just about every night. I've recently began tracking them but I've been eating the same thing for awhile now.
@JaydedMiss the thing is I didn't feel good at all, I'd get dizzy at practice even after eating a meal 2 hours before hand but I wasn't hungry enough to eat. Congrats on your transformation! And yes I need to get a food scale n I've been seeing a big difference in my muscle tone lately (in a good way)
@luckywizard yeah I just need to start forcing myself to get my calories in and hit my macros. I started drinking protein shakes with carbogain (complex carbs) so that should help a little.
Thank you all for you're help and support!!0 -
Two things to help with calorie intake:
1) Food scale - weighing gives you the accuracy so you can be more certain of your intake.
2) If you're STILL really low, adding in healthy fats - things like nuts, oils, avocado, full-fat dairy - is the way to go.
And there's always dessert
