Just curious .
I mentioned walkers only because right now the only form of exercise I am doing seriously is walking - 20,000 steps a day.
So would like to know any "only walkers" like me counting calories ,with no other form of exercise and lost weight ? & in how many months/days with the pounds please.
What else other than scale made you think it's a feel good factor or walking is working for real ?

I know including other regimes helps but I just started and I know I need to be walking little more longer to start including other forms of exercise. Its motivating enough to know about just the walkers just incase I can't or won't try other exercises :) no offense to others :)

I walk at a very high pace. The smaller the steps the better! Try to imagine lining up your heel to your toe on the opposite foot. Anyhow, the reason I say that is because it gets your heart rate going!!! Walking is a great whole body exercise and does wonders when you do it 5 days out of the week. This calve muscles are gonna shine!!! I lost a good amount of my weight when I was doing this. When eating right and walking I was losing 5+lbs a month. Don't rush your weight loss though! It's a slow gradual process.

I kinda fell off the wagon this last year but I've been trying to climb back on. Now that I live in the country I'm terrified to walk around these country roads, so many people drive so recklessly! It doesn't help that I put my headphones on and blast my music

    Anyways...

Walking is definitely my go to exercise. It's a rush! I advise it, highly!

I'm a walker-only because of the convenience and I dislike pretty much everything else. Also, I have knee problems.

My goal has been 4 miles average a day, which for me turns out to be about 10,000 steps. I have found it very motivating to use the health app on my iPhone because it shows me the average weekly, monthly & yearly distance/day. As I continue, that monthly or yearly number increases incrementally.

My weight loss has been much slower than I expected - 10 pounds over 2 months. Because of that I've tried to ramp up my exercise in a couple of ways. During the summer, I found out about a local water park that is open an hour a day just for people to walk through the lazy river. Tried to go 3x/week. People if all sizes and ages. Loved it and it was relatively inexpensive. Now that that's closed, I am trying to make a habit of taking the stairs to the 5th floor at work for my bathroom breaks twice a day. I take it as slow as I need to but it gets my heart pumping.

Not sure how I'm gonna handle it once the weather changes. Worried about motivation to go out in the cold and it'll be dark by the time I get home from work.

I hope once I get better control of my eating, the weight loss will speed up. Oh, and I'm in my mid-50s. Maybe that's part of the reason it's been slow. The positive is that a few friends have noticed.

I just walk about 5 miles a day. About 1 mile is really fast. Losing about a pound a week. I don't burn many calories. 10 min on stair master is more efficient. But I hate the gym and have time right now. My vivofit keeps me motivated. I like the data!
  • Hi, the majority of my excersize is walking. I walk my dog daily sometimes twice, and have a good walk at the weekend.(5 to 8 miles.) I am followng my calorie allocation too and trying to have calories left over at the end of the day. I have lost 11lbs as of the morning and have 9 or 10 left to lose.

Walker here!! I don't have a car so I walk EVERYWHERE! I average 12-15k a day. Since it's fall I'll be slowing down. I just lost 12 pounds in 2 months! By walking and calories. I eat about 1000-1200 a day. I put my bike on a trainer to start riding but have only rode once this week since I put it on last Sunday. I used to ride 5-8 miles a day and was 120 lbs then now (2kids and 16 years later) im 156. Want to get back to being healthy.
