Substituions in recipes

Does anyone have great tips or a list of healthier substitutions to use in recipes ?

As an example, I know butter in cake receipes can be replace with apple sauce...

    soy/almond/rice milk instead of regular! my family refuses to eat healthy but when i cook for them they have no idea i dont use real milk and they gobble it up >:}



    oh and hummus for mayo is a good one too!

    Greek yogurt in place of sour cream.
    A can of diet soda in place of oil, eggs, & water for boxed cake mix.
    Almond milk in place of dairy milk.

    I wouldn't substitute anything for regular milk unless you are lactose intolerant. Skim milk has much more protein than soy/rice.almond milk.

    *Coconut oil for butter and oil
    *stevia>splenda>sugar
    *ground flax for part of flour
    *agave syrup for corn syrup or pancake syrup
    *egg beaters or whites for whole eggs

    Really? Isn,t the result too sweet to taste with the sweetener used in the diet soda ?

    but in most case i'd like to decrease the overall calories in a recipes .. mainlay bakeries such muffin or breads...

    agreed with the milk, i drink skim milk :)
