800 calories a day for a week

I'm on a 1290 cal diet and for the last 2 days I've only taken in 800 cal per day plus I exercise. I am a healthy 35 year old female with an 18 month old and would really like to shed 40 lbs, so my question is, is 800 cal for a few days or a week going to cause me to go into starvation mode?

It's not healthy, though. Not recommended unless under doctor's supervision.

@dogeatdogworld I moved your question to the general diet and weight loss help board since you will probably receive better answers here.

Short term, no big deal. Habitually, not a good idea for many reasons listed above. I've done it (although for me it was eating 1500 cals when my target was 2000, and to be honest (and I logged super carefully and weighed myself multiple times a day) it didn't help speed anything up and made me really hungry the next day!

I'm going to start taking n more protein tommrow 60mg a day

I'd recommend a minimum of 0.6-0.8g protein daily per pound of a healthy goal weight. There's decent research suggesting we need more protein than the RDA minimum when in a calorie deficit, or when active. It sounds like you're both, and 60 is not much more than the RDA for an average-sized woman.

Please eat enough to stay strong and healthy!

No, and if it is just for a short time it probably won't hurt you unless you have some medical condition that makes it particularly dangerous. But as a general rule you should eat more.

with that calorie level you may see a drop in energy especially if you are exercising
