Sorry if I confuse you. I lost 125 just by eating healthy, exercising, counting calories and weighing my food. Now that i am maintain my weight I still do all the same things bc i don't want to gain all the weight back.

Many find they have to do that. Good for you.
Majority find that when they don't they gain back what was lost or more.
And sadly many of them repeat that failed method, if they can reach goal weight again.
But I'll bet you are likely getting better at what meals and quantities are correct blocks to eat, that type of thing.10 -

Hmmmm, I've only been maintaining for a couple of months but I do think my husband is slightly annoyed with me that I'm still counting calories.......both food and exercise. Honestly though, I understand that's what I need to do and so I do it but don't make big deal out of it to him.........7

I've been doing the same thing and still logging, still tracking. I've lost almost 100 previously, gained a big chunk back before so now that I've lost the rest I needed to and am more working on maintaining I'm terrified of gaining it back.
People have commented that I'm obsessed and need to 'let go' but people need to mind their own LOL. Logging and tracking help me be mindful of what I'm eating and how much I'm working out so I don't fall back into bad habits. I try not to be so strict about my logging though, in an attempt to learn to manage without.
You do you18 -

I don't tell my entire my family I count calories. To those not undergoing weight loss or weight management its hard for them to understand and grasp this process.
My husband knows I count and he knows its necessary for me to keep doing it for my specific goals.
I say to anyone, what ever process works for you just keep doing that! Best of Luck and congratulations btw!16 -
I lost all of my weight and I still count and track. The only difference is now, I'm at maintenance instead of a deficit. The scale always creeps back up if I don't.10

As of Monday, I'm in maintainance after losing 13lbs (mostly vanity, because at 5'11, only I can see a difference). My BF "caught" me weighing light mayo yesterday and said I was taking it "WAY TOO FAR". I'm like, what...no, I need to know what to log"...then we got into a "you have lost the weight, why are you still logging" conversation. My response...because I don't want to gain it back "again".11

Congrats on your 125 pound loss! That is amazing!
Although I don't discuss my weight or fitness with others unless asked I still hear this quite often.
"Why are you so active? You are already fit." "Why are you watching what you eat? You will burn it off quickly." etc.
It doesn't feel compulsive or hard work to me though.
Being aware of my calorie intake and being active daily just a way of life now. I still enjoy food and treats, but I plan for it and I stay in control. Food no longer control me like it did most of my life.
I lost a lot of weight doing this and if I want to maintain my weight I will have to continue everyday and I am okay with this.

You should see what my bike cost. But I've done 96 miles in the last week on it and have 25 tonight. And it's fun.
It sounds like you changed your lifestyle. Which is exactly what needs to happen to be successful at keeping lost weight off. It sounds like people who don't have your determination don't understand.7 -
I've been told that I was obsessive. It is annoying, but I try not to let it bother me. I lost ~75 pounds by weighing my food and counting calories in and out. I see no reason to stop now. I never make a big deal about it to others. I do not always weigh my food, only when I am at home. I eat out regularly and eat anything I want in moderation. I will often have a beer, or a dessert. I never tell others what they should or shouldn't eat. I honestly don't see what is so obsessive about that. So when someone accuses me of being obsessive I just try to shrug it off. I know what works for me and I have no plan to change that.15

remind him that "light mayo" is still 35-50 calories/spoonful.1 -

I mostly get these types of comments from large muscular males that I've cycled with...They usually respond with "Oh" once I inform them how many calories are in a typical plate of burger & fries and just how little someone that is 115 lb (versus their 200-ish) burns during running/cycling.

Most of my friends thought it was great when I lost a large amount of weight using a calorie counter (MFP). Then they all tried it. Next, they quit, and told me I was crazy for doing this because it's obsessive, weird & EXTREME.
Their loss.18 -
My family doesn't care. Results speak for themselves and the healthier I am, the longer I'm around. Whether they see that as a positive or not, I'm not sure.10
-
Maybe I'm compulsive and obsessed, but it helps me maintain my 150 lb loss for a full year, something I've never been able to do before. Most people are impressed with this accomplishment, and if they were to complain, it wouldn't change a thing about what I do. I'm sure there are more a few people quietly watching to see if I regain.16

I'll just echo much of the same here....
I've been maintaining well over a year. I NEED to diligently measure and log to keep track of myself. I try not to weigh myself as compulsively, but I still offend.
If I didn't, I know I'd be 50 pounds heavier again in no time.
My husband gets a bit ticked because I don't often eat what he eats, and if I don't like it, or it doesn't fit into my logging today, I don't eat it. I've decided I'd rather thrown food out than store it on my a**. End of story.
I just ignore acquaintances who feel the need to tell me I can eat or go back to cocktails now. Some are astonished I've maintained this length of time, and I always credit this result to my commitment to MFP.20 -

I do not get told that. Honestly most people who know me well probably wish I was a little more compulsive. I didn't count or measure anything while losing or in maintenance. But that's just me.
I fully agree with the above. If you've found what works for you then stick with it. If YOU feel you are getting too compulsive then take baby steps to loosen up a bit, but don't do it because of what someone else says.
Congrats on your success!5 -
Noone has ever used the word compulsive in regards to me but what they will say is 'you're so good being able to say no to cake' (or whatever delicacy is on offer)... if I have the calories left I will have whatever I want but if I don't, I won't, end of.
Because I've been eating this way for years now no one notices in general what/how much I choose to eat or not eat.3 -
Better than impulsive!10
-
Yup. Who cares.... it’s what keeps me close to goal weight.....6
-
The only people who know I weigh food every day are people in my kitchen -- family. I'm in better shape than any of them so they don't say much. Maybe it is obsessive, but it's the only thing that works for me and honestly doesn't take much time or effort.5
-
You do whatever it takes to maintain a healthy weight! I am not to maintenance yet however I know I will have to continue logging or else I will let myself go3
-
My husband gives me a hard time often about weighing my food. I don't think he worries so much about me doing but how it looks to my kids. Now that I have maintained for years, I do it more to make sure I am getting enough to fuel my workouts. I still get hassled for exercising/eating right but why do you think I look the way I look...because I work at it!3
-
I plan in weighing my food indefinitely. I have 4 girls, and we've talked about why I do it. I want to make sure I have the right amount of energy to take care of my family, too much or too little, and I won't feel good. I also do it because I'm at risk for type 2 diabetes. So by tracking my food now, I am helping myself in the future. I make sure they know it isn't about being skinny for me (though it is a nice perk), but taking care of myself to the best of my ability. I try to weigh/measure all my stuff before setting the food on the table for dinner so they aren't waiting on me when it's time to eat. I still will gladly eat ice cream and potato chips with them, I don't want them growing up thinking I fear food, but I respect it because of what it can do for me.9

I am a serial gainer and loser of anywhere from 8 to 20 pounds. Have probably lost well over 200 in my life ... that same set of pounds up and down ... that's not healthy even though I have never been categorized as obese, and it's discouraging and harder every time to lose!
I am determined to "Yo Yo No Mo" and THIS TIME, when I reach maintenance, I plan to be compulsive!! It's a lot better than regaining my loss (AGAIN)14 -

Me too! I was at goal 2ish years ago and have since gained and relost +25, -15, +5, -10, +20. I am going at this very, very slowly this time. It has always been about avoiding/delaying the type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia, cancer that are all in the family. I just cannot figure out how to maintain without being compulsive. So compulsive it is and will be. I am so done with the bouncing weight game.6 -
In my opinion, everybody is compulsive about something. For instance, folks who are overweight or obese, are compulsive about eating and not exercising. Yes, many get ridiculed but it doesn't really stop them from their actions. They change, we change, when we are good and ready to.
So when folks, family, friends say this to you, smile and say bite me (that last part you can just say it in your head ).8 -
The only person who knows I count calories is my husband. I lost 70ish pounds and have kept them off for a couple of years. I do not actually count the calories "out loud" any more. I learned how to keep an eye on CICO over time. Nothing like a good run to keep everything in line Oh, yeah, I am compulsive...so what2
