Hit a Wall

Alright, here it goes. So I've been happily following my diet and exercise regimen for over a month. The weight loss has been steady, consistent and predictable.

But in the last couple of days I seem to have hit what folks describe as a wall. Seems like I'm bouncing against 201.0-6 pounds.

I'm thinking this calls for drastic measures. The bottom line is that it seems I need to increase my calories burned/calories eaten ratio. Here's what I'm considering.

1. More exercise - I want to go berserk this weekend. In addition to my morning workout, I went for a 20 minute walk. I'm thinking of also adding an hour tonight on the elliptical.

2. Less eating - I tend to get sloppy with the calorie counting in the evening. I'm usually the hungriest then and I wind up going to bed with too much food in the belly. The solution to this if obvious, but ironically it's the most difficult as I get a lot of emotional satisfaction out of eating around this time.

I really want to break 200 pounds by Sunday night. Thoughts?

  • I've scrambled like this on Friday and Saturday to boost my results by my Sunday morning weigh-in. Do it! I think it will work!

If your weight is consistently "jogging" back and forth (up and down), this is not a plateau per se. Chances are, your body is now using the food you are eating more efficiently and you are exercising at a pace where your body is confused. To break this pattern, you really need to increase your exercise routine or add another type of exercise, add some strength training and more importantly, eat the calories you burn.

I know it is difficult to believe, but eating what you burn is a good thing. You must feed the machine.
  • Thanks for your responses. It's encouraging.

    Firewalking,
    Please clarify what you mean:

"more importantly, eat the calories you burn.
I know it is difficult to believe, but eating what you burn is a good thing. You must feed the machine. "

Are you suggesting that I possibly don't eat enough?

    Cheers,
