I want to start my New Years resolution 3 months ahead. I am doing mine in October to have a head start to 2018. This is a new strategy/plan I am approaching. When do you start new years resolution.

Good luck. I don't do resolutions, I set goals and work on achieving them.2

I don’t. If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing now. I don’t wait until Monday/the 1st of the month/year/Neverary. I applaud your choice to start now on whatever goals you want to work toward.3

My 2018 resolution is to finish the weight loss journey that I started in 17. 80 pounds in with 175 to go (since April). I got this!2

I didn't really call it resolution - although it was around Rosh Hashanah
but after indulging through my birthday "weekend", I set a one year goal to be at my goal weight by my 60th. 26 lbs - 52 weeks (includes the 6 I gained). First stop, finally making it to 100 lbs lost - 7 to go! You can do it!

I don't make resolutions either. I just start things whenever. I started MFP on December 30 last year (I've had an account for much longer than that though) and started lurking on the forums around January 1st along with the New Year's resolutioners. I'm still here and most of the people I added at that time aren't.
Just make this a habit rather than a resolution. I think you'll stick with it longer. Everyone knows "no one" sticks to resolutions, so I suspect there is a psychological built in excuse for failure in calling it that. You don't intend to fail, but because everyone knows you can't stick to a resolution, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that you don't stick to it.
Starting now is a great idea though! So is starting over again tomorrow. And the day after that. It's early enough before the holidays that got can build good habits now rather than try to build them during the stresses of the holidays.
Good luck to you!0 -
I also don't do resolutions (though coincidentally did start using MFP a few days into the new year in 2015).
If you have goals, start today. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year1
