Options
Hi everyone. I need your help and kind suggestion. I was trying to loose weight through clean eating n taking 1200 cal diet. However, now i m expecting, so can you recommend how many calories should i take and how should change my fitness pal's settings? I do not want to gain much weight during this time as i m already over weight. Suggestions n experience sharing appreciated. Thanks

You need to talk to your doctor about this. Usually weight loss during pregnancy is not advised.

My doctor made it very clear that attempting to lose weight while pregnant was not ok. He suggested I eat my maintenance calories and adjust as it goes. The first trimester I didn't eat much (all three times) because I was so sick tho.
If you eat your maintenance range and stay as active as possible you shouldn't gain much more than what is "normal" (I think 15 to 20lbs for o overweight Mommas).

Check with your doctor and set a weight gain goal appropriate for your current weight with your doctor. General advice is to eat maintenance for the first trimester and add 100-300 calories in the second and 300-500 in the third depending on your weight gain target. Make sure you get on a prenatal vitamin asap if you are not yet and check in with a doctor as well if you have not.

I found this link quite useful in outlining caloric needs and how to put them in mfp:

And this group was alot of fun to participate in and has some awesome and supportive ladies active in it now:
