"Healthy" smoothies

Okay everyone. I am looking for healthy smoothie recipes. I want to be able to calculate calories, sugar and such and prefer it to have ingredients like protein powder, yogurt (such a Greek yogurt) and milks like soy, almond, skim. I go to a place called Tropical Smoothie Cafe here and they make smoothies with splenda, fruit and additives such as whey and soy protein powder, multi-vitamins, flax seed, and such. But that gets expensive and I would much rather learn to make some myself here at home. Thanks! :)

  • I LOVE this recipe for a chocolate and peanut butter protein shake:

1 Scoop chocolate protein powder (I use Optimum Nutrition)
1 C Silk milk light (original flavor)
    2 T Better'n Peanut Butter
    1/2 frozen banana
    a handful of ice cubes
    1/4 t Bob's Mill guar gum (it's a thickener)

I got a book from Amazon.com called " Slim Smoothies" by Donna Rodnitsky. It was under $10. 130 recipes between 100 and 300 calories. Also got a shake and take personal blender which is my new favorite thing. I use MRM whey protein powder, silk unsweetened almond milk, bananas, cocoa powder as my go to shake. Great recipes in this book and all the nutritional info to.

I don't really have a recipe, but I usually do Greek yogurt, spinach, assorted fruit (whatever I have on hand), and a little milk.

I have a smoothie every morning for breakfast. Usually:

    8 oz of water,
    8 oz of yogurt
    1 T of PB
1 scoop Choc. Protein Powder (usually EAS)
    4-6 ice cubes

Sometimes I'll add a packet of Splenda.

I have left out the PB and used frozen fruit, I've left out the PB and added 1/2 t of instant coffee and 1 t. of flax oil.

LOTS of stuff you can do with Smoothies!

    1/4 cup blueberries (21 cals)
as much water as you like and crushed ice
Blend and it is a beautiful thing!

That's the beauty of it. All the nutrition without tasting it at all.

If you haven't tried adding a half a frozen banana, do it! Makes it nice and creamy!
